What baffles me is that Mr. Snyder is the chairman of Six Flags, which filed for bankruptcy. So, you still have the credit to buy another major corporation? Ain't America great?
The connection to the Redskins owner is Miramax co-founder Harvey Weinstein sits on the board of Six Flags.
Like many of you, I was only barely able to escape yesterday's Hogs Haven discussion with my support and love of Devin Thomas intact. When he is destroying the NFL next season on his way to his first Pro Bowl, we will all forget that Kevin made us read about his love of naked bodies. In the meantime, I thought I would toss out a few topics to get this All-Decade team wrapped up and put to bed. In the comments section below I will frame up a question on each of the remaining positions, with my automatic bid included. I leave it to the Hogs Haven faithful to help make this team complete. I'll publish the final roster next week (I'll sandbag it for the day when the only thing we have to cover is London Fletcher doing a cooking show or DeAngelo Hall appearing on "The View"...)
Washington Redskins All-Decade Team So Far...
Offense
QB: Brad Johnson, Jason Campbell, Mark Brunell
OL: Chris Samuels, Jon Jansen, Tre Johnson, Randy Thomas, Casey Rabach, Derrick Dockery, Ray Brown, Ethan Albright
RB: Stephen Davis, Clinton Portis, Mike Sellers, Ladell Betts, Larry Centers
Defense
CB: Champ Bailey, Darrell Green, Shawn Springs, Fred Smoot, DeAngelo Hall
Special Teams
P: Hunter Smith
K: John Hall
We are looking for a few good DT's, LB's, WR's and TE's...and of course a safety or two.
Thanks in advance for the spirited discussion. Don't forget, eligibility is as simple as suiting up in the decade (but service time is fair game for debating the merits of an individual's inclusion.)
I trust the Eagles scouting dept when it comes to evaluating O-line talent. They have had a pretty solid O-line for the last decade. they seem to have the talent, that when 1 guy moves on, they just fill the spot from within. Now I know they have added some FA's on the O-line(Peters last year being the most noticable), but they do a very nice job of drafting and developing talent.
I know Shawn Andrews has had back problems, and I know he's a complete headcase, but when he's healthy, and not singing Show Tunes in the locker room, he is a hell of a player. Now, I don't know how he will check out medically, but he has already said he plans on playing again, so i'm believing the back has got to be getting better.
If he checks out medically, I'd take him any day of the week. He can play either G position and also RT. What a huge upgrade he would be to our line.............if he is healthy.
So, how would you feel about the Big Kid as a Redskin?
Ken and I were unable to attend the taping in DC last night due to prior engagements, but we just got the recap from our friends at MoKi Media. Episode airs March 24th.
NFL players Devin Thomas, wide receiver for the Washington Redskins, and Bret Lockett, defensive back for the New England Patriots, joined celebrity host Charlotte Burley for Episode 5 of Season 3's "The Turn On," her talk show about love, sex and relationships. Topics ranged from turn ons in the bedroom such as lingerie or not - Lockett prefers the "wait and see" of lingerie, Thomas doesn't, both prefer goal oriented women with a natural look - to aggressiveness - Thomas doesn't mind being approached by women, Lockett likes to do the approaching. Both men agree with Charlotte's first guest, George Worrell, DC-based event and personal stylist, that beauty comes from within.
But when Burley asked what would happen if the Redskins played the Patriots, Lockett quickly responded, "No competition." Thomas had an opportunity for a comeback when Lockett kept his promise to Burley to take his shirt off as things heated up on set. When Thomas was asked to do the same, he looked at Locket and said, "No competition!"
As for a more detailed recap regarding girls:
Devin likes naked bodies - he likes natural beauty with no make-up... he is a family man with a good foundation. He wants someone who works hard and doesn't like gold diggers. He likes a woman who knows what she wants and he is honored when woman approach him... but he doesn't like it when girls throw themselves at him.
I didn't get to watch a lot of Miami Dolphins football this year, but my first reaction to bringing in Joey Porter, like most people, is a negative one. He had 9 sacks last year and 17.5 in 2008, but there is a lot more to the story as his ProFootballFocus stats show and fellow SB Nation writer for the Dolphins website, The Phinsider, Matt Infante, can attest.
In regards to on-field performance, what's the reason Joey Porter had a steep decline in performance from his 2008 year? His PFF stats show consistently poor performance in pass defense...what are his strengths/weaknesses after this year? (Redskins will be switching to a 3-4 this year)
Phinsider: The main reason for Porter's decline is simply his age. His body has a lot of wear and tear on it that has caused him to lose a step or two. He'll still look brilliant in little spurts. But the consistency isn't there anymore. He's also always been a one-trick pony and is a liability against the run. Last season, teams made it a point to run to Porter's side because he rarely made a play at the point of attack. So in a nutshell, I think Porter's best role is as a situational pass-rusher. It would keep him fresh and limit how often teams can exploit is weakness in run support. However, that was part of the problem with Porter and the coaching staff last year. He didn't want to be a part-time player.
Porter was suspended for 1-game by the team and reportedly had clashes with the coaches and refused to come off the field. Is this true and what light can you shed to his behaviors/motives?
Mike Shanahan spent some time this past season at the University of Florida, so he certainly knows Tebow. Some Redskins fans are going bananas over the thought of drafting the QB, but not me. It's just a workout.
It definitely marks the end of Colt and possibly Campbell.

As we all know too well, the start of free agency for the Redskins is a glorious interesting time. The Redskins predictably acquire one of the top three names, the NFC East media responds by making fun of the owner, and we optimistically rejoice. Obviously, those jubilant days are over. We expect the regime change in Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan to insert youth and competitive depth.
But I have some concerns. Mike, like all new Redskins coaches, has never had the billion dollar bank account and the unabashed support of a owner. The Shanaplan in Denver was to always make do with the draft and sign mid-level free agents such as Jake Plummer, Travis Henry, Brandon Stokley, etc.
This is a whole new time for Shanahan. If he wants Darren Sproles, BOOM...he's here. So, how much will Coach fall into this trap like Gibbs (Portis, Brandon Lloyd, Archuleta, Andre Carter) and Jim Zorn (Jason Taylor, Haynesworth, DHall)? We'll find out soon.
I'll also be updating this same post over the next few weeks as the free agent trains come and go out of Ashburn. Buckle up folks, we're 1 day away.
