[Note by TexSkins, 04/26/08 4:56 PM CDT ] Final note on this. The Redskins traded their #1 (#21 overall), #3 (#84 overall), and #5 (#154) for the two #2s of Atlanta, and Atlanta's #4. I don't like it. So, now they pick at #34, #48, #51, #96, #103, #186, #228, #242, and #249.
a trade with the Falcons. Interesting draft thus far, so this pick kinda takes me by surprise. Not because of what the Skins did, but because of what everyone else did. Talib at #20 with Jenkins still on the board? Trading up to #18 for the second QB? Giving away a future first rounder for Jeff Otah? Color me shocked.
ESPN has an interesting intro for the Skins pick. A season recap, with all the highlights and lowlights. I wish I had NFL Network. Also, Mel Kiper with the obligatory "having 9 picks is a change" comment.
Anyway, back to the newest Redskins move. I don't know what results of the trade are, but I'm sure Skin Patrol is off somewhere jumping up and down, drunk... with joy. Drunk with joy. No self respecting blogger would be drunk any other way.
I'll update the details about the trade when I get them. Since Atlanta didn't have a first rounder this year, it should be pretty pricey as far as picks. Their second rounder is obviously a given... but there needs to be quite a bit of compensation outside of that. A number one next year would make me nearly piss myself. I would be very excited with that.

Basically...
it’s not a steal for the Redskins. It is about a wash. You move a 1, a 3 and a 5 and you get 2 2s, and a 4. It’s about equal value.

It’s a good deal if all the round 1 rated players are no longer available.
As stated it’s about a Wash, other than a deep draft provides excellent players in the second round and now the Redskins have 3 picks in the second round.

Our most legitimately secure position with a young pro bowler and we decide to go in that direction early. I hope Zorn trades Cooley so I can stop rooting for this team. It isn’t like I can watch them but twice or three times a year anyway. I was really hoping that this draft we were going to fill some holes, it just looks like we’re going to leave the old, hurt positions old and hurt.

Ok,
Now I’m lost as to what your Redskins are doing. I hoping something else is happening but nine picks and the first 2 of the first 3 for WR, then one of the Redskins pro bowl postions. My only thought is the DL is picked thin, with a college DL coach it would seem the Redskins would have a great feel for the top performers in this position.
It’ll be interesting to see what the remaining 6 picks bring
But for now baffled is what I am, as for value yes very good but need????

I don’t. We had needs at three or four positions and we managed to draft one too many players from one of those needs, and one player from none of them.

I think this was a clear case of best player available at each of the picks. Still kind of speechless we went all offense on the first day. I’m scared we didn’t pick one linemen, D or O. Guess that’s what day two is for.

what the hell
if they don’t like cooley as much as the rest of the city does and let him go in a couple years i will flip. why in the hell 2 WRs?? we took devin thomas and i thought we were clear of the future bust malcolm kelly, but no, we still take him??? how can we not try to improve our lines. they’re gonna be on crutches or wheelchairs by week 13. god dammit i hate these clowns runnin the team. some college professor needs to do a study on this front office pushing people to the brink of insanity. the ledge is looking closer and closer to me
