Mike Shanahan spent some time this past season at the University of Florida, so he certainly knows Tebow. Some Redskins fans are going bananas over the thought of drafting the QB, but not me. It's just a workout.
Shanahan knows more about evaluating quarterbacks than almost anyone in the NFL. So if he drafts Tebow, then I would support that decision. I would see it as an opportunity to add leadership to our roster.
Let me preface this by saying that in no way am I advocating drafting Tebow. But I do believe that Shanahan knows his quarterbacks, so if he thinks he can make Tebow an NFL QB, then I would have to buy into it. I mean, everyone thought he was crazy for getting Plummer, and he showed he knew what he was doing there. Same thing with Cutler, really.
Like I said, I personally don’t wouldn’t choose Tebow, and I definitely think we have MANY more pressing needs. But I will admit that I am somewhat intrigued by Tebow. Sort of like when Matt Jones came out, but on a much higher level. The guy has so many tools, and has proven to be a winner. I think anyone would have to admit that, if he could just play quarterback, he’d be a hell of a football player.
Well if you don`t do your homework you get left behind. Tebow will go somewhere and that is what the coaches are doing, checking him out to learn if he has any value. A team that has a good starting QB could mentor Tebow. Maybe the Patriots take a chance on him. Seatle has two top ten picks, Cleveland or Buffalo but I don`t see the Skins passing up a chance to fix their O-line and if they come across more picks in a trade they will fix other needs.
He may also have promised Tebow a workout/shot at the NFL while he was sniffing around gatorland, presuming he was coaching again. He is, and there you have it.
shouldn’t a well prepped staff evaluate everyone and be ready for any eventuality?
I have yet to see a link where Allen or Shanahan state a preference for any player or any specific need and I’m happy about this. They understand that the first three picks are still less than certain as to how they may play out, so they’re keeping all of their options open based on who is there at the time of the selection. Why telegraph a move and reduce your leverage?
Meh....
i just dont see the skins drafting this guy in any way..

MICKEY SHANAHAN
He is going to draft Tom Tebow.
Elaw6 - March 18, 2010
I think the Browns are the favorite to get him now, in the 2nd.
johnnydee83 - March 18, 2010

He will definitly get a shout on another team
Elaw6 - March 18, 2010

terpsez11 - March 19, 2010

Classic Mike Shanahan

However, this is just a workout.

I tend to agree

Gotta see what is happening...

Even worse is that Tebow got an invite to the Draft.
So he’s gonna sit there and wait with a camera on him for two or three rounds for his name to be called. Doesn’t make any sense.
SSBlitz - March 19, 2010
I think they changed the invite format this year.
They invited a bunch more people, so I think one of the groups is going to be ‘2nd round prospects’.
Not sure which they have Tebow to be a part of.
smutsboy1 - March 19, 2010
Oh, that makes sense then. Though it’d be pretty hilarious to see everyone drafted in the top 15 and then Tebow sitting there for 30 more picks.
SSBlitz - March 19, 2010
I would pay extra just to watch the Tebow Non-Draft cam.
Scott E - March 19, 2010
Man, I would LOVE that
