Shanny said this with some laughter but still interesting:
Parks Smith - November 7, 2011
Don't forget
the use of the word ‘rebuilding’. Was reluctant to use it. Asked for reporters to define it but never fully denied that they were rebuilding the team. Even admitting that he told Kyle that it would be a rebuild.
UkRedskin - November 7, 2011
I just don't understand the stigma around this word
Anyone who has watched the Redskins over the past decade KNOWS this team needed a rebuild. I suppose it comes down to marketing: they think game attendance or team interest will go down drastically if they don’t trot out a “seemingly competitive” team.
Well news flash: fans are going to lose interest if year after year, you trot out old washed up free agents in the name of jersey sales.
This team is going in the right direction, for the first time in a long time (hell, first time since I’ve been a fan). We all just need to take a deep breath and let the rebuild happen.
willster - November 7, 2011
Also mentioned
that Beck took too long to get rid of the ball against Buffalo, but might have been too quick to get rid of it against San Fran.
UkRedskin - November 7, 2011
he was sacked 6 times in under 2.5 seconds according to ESPN stat gurus.
if that is true, that comment is bunk
les boulez bomber - November 7, 2011
but it is not surprising that the QB acts frantically if he is not sure how long he will remain upright. campbell had the same problem..and he is a lot bigger!
les boulez bomber - November 7, 2011
Niles Paul out for a couple of weeks with turf toe
WILL NOT AFFECT THE OUTCOME OF THE GAME
Leonard Hankerson earned another start Sunday vs. Miami
WELL, THAT IS GOOD NEWS
Finally admitted we’re rebuilding, kind of…
WE KNOW/ WE HOPE
Tashard Choice should begin practicing this week
WHO CARES
Jammal Brown’s status is still uncertain after a groin injury
REALLY WISH WE HAD A BETTER OPTION TO REPLACE HIM
Redskin44 - November 7, 2011
Tashard Choice
Once again this is the missed point of too many when who is being added by the Redskins, Is choice an option for this offense, maybe but the key is if he is an option at the age of 26 he has time to be a part of the rebuilding.
dr WNC - November 7, 2011
Disagree, he will not be part of this team next year
Redskin44 - November 7, 2011
Disagree with your disagreement...
I think there is a strong chance that Choice is here next year. I wouldn’t count on Hightower coming back at full strength. Helu, Torain and Royster could possibly be the guys next year, but Choice has the big play ability that Royster just doesn’t have. Unless Hillis makes his way to DC, I would seriously expect Choice to return
ptowny - November 7, 2011
Torain is done
travisjh86 - November 8, 2011
Whomever replaces Jamaal Brown is a better option than he is
Steve Shoup - November 7, 2011
nope. not the case
Redskin44 - November 7, 2011
how do you figure??
Steve Shoup - November 8, 2011
Locklear has been less than impressive.
In the name of youth, I wouldn’t be at all opposed to see how Willie Smith reacts when thrown into the fire. We need to know whether we need to draft a tackle in the 1st/2nd or 3rd/4th next April.
CarverM - November 7, 2011
Completely agree
Problem is we just invested stupid amounts of money and years into Brown
travisjh86 - November 8, 2011
i don't mind putting in Smith, but Locklear played better than Brown did on Sunday
Locklear is a better RT that seems to be a fact
Steve Shoup - November 8, 2011
I can't argue with that.
CarverM - November 8, 2011
Sucks that Paul gets injured just when the young guys start getting opportunities for more play time.
ThuGodfather - November 7, 2011
Yea and just when I was hoping he'd take over return duties...
Parks Smith - November 7, 2011
We get all the breaks, don't we?
DCO'sfan - November 7, 2011
I know- it could have completely turned the season around ;)
Redskin44 - November 7, 2011
Austin could do it for now.
ThuGodfather - November 7, 2011
please
Learn a lesson from the QB controversy and avoid a controversy by benching/cutting Banks.
DCO'sfan - November 7, 2011
Are you serious?
Parks Smith - November 7, 2011
lol
sadly….he is.
back_to_the_future - November 7, 2011
I'm a girl, for future reference.
DCO'sfan - November 7, 2011
So you aren't Jewish and you are a girl?
64ShagginWagon - November 7, 2011
Joke on Camden Chat
I am Jewish, and I’m a girl.
DCO'sfan - November 7, 2011
Now you are blowing my mind
64ShagginWagon - November 7, 2011
That's what she said.
DCO'sfan - November 7, 2011
*sadly...she is.
better?
ThuGodfather - November 7, 2011
...what?
DCO'sfan - November 7, 2011
banks
will not be here next year unless they push that line back. what has he done lately in what have you done lately league?
back_to_the_future - November 7, 2011
Let me backpedal and say that controversy was the wrong word
Avoid coup d’etat by benching/cutting Banks.
DCO'sfan - November 7, 2011
In otherwords just cut his ass.
64ShagginWagon - November 7, 2011
Or an angry mob (armed with pitchforks) may show up at Shanahan's door.
DCO'sfan - November 7, 2011
by "mob", you mean Banks' mom right?
ThuGodfather - November 7, 2011
um the mob would come if he DIDN'T cut Banks
I’m pretty surprised such an event hasn’t occurred already.
DCO'sfan - November 7, 2011
Ah, now I see.
At first, I thought you were saying there’d be a mob if he WAS cut.
We’re on the same page now.
ThuGodfather - November 7, 2011
da fuck?
I’d be surprised if his mom would show up. Too much shame.
DCO'sfan - November 7, 2011
I believe that is French for "just cut his ass"
Parks Smith - November 7, 2011
Didn't someone
Already try that, over the summer?
CJHutch - November 7, 2011
huh?
Parks Smith - November 7, 2011
Oh, you didn't hear?
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6115839
CJHutch - November 7, 2011
Whoops
I meant offseason
CJHutch - November 7, 2011
February is the summer
In Australia. Topless beaches. Woohoo
64ShagginWagon - November 7, 2011
they need to bring him at wr
if he gets hurt then oh well.. we can cut him. if he makes some big plays we can trade him for a good draft pick… just letting return kicks on a team that is going for a top draft pick is kinda pointless
munson21502 - November 7, 2011
I love it
When you talk like that. Almost makes me forget I’m on a football message board.
CJHutch - November 7, 2011
Why thank you.
I feel so smart.
DCO'sfan - November 7, 2011
I was a huge Banks fan
He’s not the same guy. The breath taking speed and change of direction isn’t there. He doesn’t pound the ground when he gets tackled anymore. There’s no reason to keep him around, honestly. If he does elsewhere and does great good for him, but he looks like he’s given up, and just doesn’t have ‘it’. This offense can’t keep starting short of the 20.
timith - November 7, 2011
I'm telling you man, he was an optical illusion...
Parks Smith - November 7, 2011
Not according to Madden 2012
64ShagginWagon - November 7, 2011
I was at games with him last year
The guy was a Gazelle amongst Wildebeasts. This year he doesn’t look as fast. I know mph wise he probably wan’t any faster, but honestly that guy had ‘it’ – maybe ‘it’ was cut out of him?
timith - November 7, 2011
Has he been doing anything?
Haven’t been able to follow you guys much recently.
Omaha Sun - November 7, 2011
He was a great blocker in the run game
Otherwise not much. He was also a little more active in the pass game as of late. He’ll definitely be missed on special team, however. Paul delivered some great hits.
mbedner - November 7, 2011
That's pretty much what I expected from him.
It’s a shame he didn’t get moved to safety at Nebraska.
Omaha Sun - November 8, 2011
We still have like 10 WR's, right?
why can’t one of those guys return punts/ko’s?
mkjo - November 8, 2011
Thought this was a great was to put where the Redskins currently are...
From Proffotball Talk comments section for an article regarding the Redskins.
Copious 1 - November 7, 2011
*way
Copious 1 - November 7, 2011
Hail-tards
I like it
CarverM - November 7, 2011
I'm pretty ecstatic he admitted this was a rebuild
Now, will people stop bitching and let it happen already?
mbedner - November 7, 2011
Of course not
He should be fired just for admitting it.
64ShagginWagon - November 7, 2011
why?
he got himself another year as head coch by admitting the team is rebuilding
Redskin44 - November 7, 2011
Yeah, I agree. He honestly tip towed around saying
He should have been more direct.
mbedner - November 7, 2011
I was being sarcastic
Making fun of everyone that wants to fire Shanny because he hasn’t delivered 3 Lombardis in 2 years.
64ShagginWagon - November 7, 2011
That's what I figured...
You’ve been pretty pro-Shanny all day from what I remember.
mbedner - November 7, 2011
Yeah I'm just sick of the coaching carousel
I’ve been living out west through the Danny’s ownership and it gets hard being laughed at so much by other teams fans.
64ShagginWagon - November 7, 2011
I hate that stupid graphic they use during every game
where they list every coach that we’ve had under The Danny. I HATE IT.
CarverM - November 7, 2011
…lol well come on…he hasnt developed an offense in two years, two drafts, two free agencies, boat loads of cap space.
in fact, he has added one legit starter who has underperformed (williams) and gave away one (campbell).
and before you go there…williams hasnt been any better at LT than JC was at QB
of course, I hope that changes and expect it to. but i feel an honest expectation was 3-4 legitimate starters over that time period with those resources. heck, he could have done that with using only the two top 10 picks and two top 40 picks.
so yeah…it’s fair to say he underperformed
les boulez bomber - November 7, 2011
Off topic, but thought I'd put this in here.
@JasonLaCanfora:
“Redskins looking to add a depth WR today. Making some calls (no, not to TO or Randy Moss, as a preemptive answer). More like journeyman vets”
UkRedskin - November 7, 2011
They do that nearly every Tuesday...
Parks Smith - November 7, 2011
That is true. Tuesday is the NFL's tryout day
mbedner - November 7, 2011
I wish the hell
They’d try out some damned quarterbacks.
CJHutch - November 7, 2011
Actually JaMarcus Russell, Jake Delhomme, JT O'Sullivan, Eric Crouch, Marc Bulger, and Marcus Vick are trying out tomorrow
Whoever throws a vortex the farthest gets the starting job Sunday. They each get five attempts.
Parks Smith - November 7, 2011
the vortex
ah that line has me rolling
mbedner - November 7, 2011
Is it sad
That I’m actually looking at that list going…
CJHutch - November 7, 2011
I hope they pick up Marcus Vick
if for no reason other than I could say that even I’ve tackled our QB.
CarverM - November 7, 2011
How's my guy Crompton (or something like that) doing?
Donnio1234 - November 7, 2011
Eric Crouch is healthy enough to play again?
He went on IR after his first UFL game this year.
Omaha Sun - November 8, 2011
Donte Stallworth isn't a crappy enough option at the journeyman vet WR position?
mbedner - November 7, 2011
(Ring, Ring) "Hey Brandon (Stokley), what about now?"
Parks Smith - November 7, 2011
what ron gardner up to
Redskin44 - November 7, 2011
F that noise
Bring back the Posse.
64ShagginWagon - November 7, 2011
Wherefore art thou
Oh Malcolm Kelly?
CJHutch - November 7, 2011
Recovering from hamstring replacement surgery
CarverM - November 7, 2011
how bout those two rookie terps receivers getting it done for balt...key plays!
les boulez bomber - November 7, 2011
How bout those Terps currently playing for Maryland! WOOOOO
Parks Smith - November 7, 2011
31-13
CarverM - November 7, 2011
Isn't he (Stokley) with the Patriots?
Donnio1234 - November 7, 2011
I think he is coaching now
mbedner - November 7, 2011
You're thinking of Furrey
Stokley was on the Giants for like a week or two then got hurt and reached an injury settlement.
Parks Smith - November 8, 2011
For the second time in two days...
what about Marko Mitchell!! haha
ptowny - November 7, 2011
This also comes from Jason La Canfora
which means we are actually trying out long snappers.
Why do people listen to La Canfora?
mbedner - November 7, 2011
Wh does LaCanfora work for NFLN? I think he just sits in his basement and retweets what Adam Schefter says.
Parks Smith - November 7, 2011
I'm not his biggest fan,
and this is my favourite theory as to what he does 90% of the time (I had the same thought a while back). But credit where credit is due, he named every one of our free agent targets before free agency started this offseason.
UkRedskin - November 7, 2011
Sorry, not every one.
But he named a fair few. Nobody even thought about Cofield until LaCanfora mentioned him. We made offers to both Yanda and Holmes as he claimed we would, and we were rumored to have sniffed around the Jenkins brothers.
UkRedskin - November 7, 2011
Yea, I'm not so sure how many of those thoughts were original...
I remember his piece in July, but many of those moves were common sense.
Parks Smith - November 7, 2011
La Cantforya
Is a dweeb who got lucky landing that Redskins Insider job, then kissed enough ass along the way to get a job with the NFL network. Frankly, think he shoulda lost his credentials after that Haynesworth crap. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if THAT’S what got him this job.
He’s the only guy in the world that actually makes Snyder sympathetic to me.
CJHutch - November 7, 2011
He's like Nostradamus
if you predict everything to happen, you’re going to hit on something sometime.
CarverM - November 7, 2011
lol
+1
trueredskinm - November 7, 2011 via mobile
people listen to JLC....
because they feel bad for starring at this left eye
ptowny - November 7, 2011
so long as he does not touch that O line
I am lurking in the shadows on the movie rights for how to win a superbowl …i mean how to win eight games with a $10mm O line in the NFL
it’s a sci fi movie lol
les boulez bomber - November 7, 2011
Worth repeating:
“And enough of Skins fans bitching and moaning on the radio and message boards. Especially the “Hail-tards” that have magically disappeared from this site. This franchise is in the 2nd year of a desperately needed rebuild. Suck it up, stop the whining, and support the young guys playing their hearts out to get better. Its what real Skins fans do."
