Here we are again for another installment of the Redskins Round Table.

Friday night was a good way to get the preseason off on the right foot, several things went well for the Redskins. What were you most impressed with about the game and what areas of concern do you have after seeing the Redskins play the Steelers?

Parks

I think I was most impressed with the rhythm and cohesion of the Redskins first team offense.  It all starts in the trenches and it looked like the offensive line was playing very well together: Jam Brown looked healthy; Monty looked solid a center, and the only time I remember seeing black and yellow in the backfield was on screen passes. It was amazing how the Skins were consistently getting to the line of scrimmage with 15 seconds left on the play call; there was never really any confusion.  Rex Grossman and Jabar Gaffney were also impressive to me, both looked on point and I think Gaffney is what I like to call a "professional" receiver; he'll greatly help this offense out.

I had a couple of areas of concern after this week, most importantly our secondary.  Both DeAngelo Hall and Josh Wilson got beat deep early (and often in DHall's case) but the Steelers were unable to connect. Kevin Barnes starting as the nickle corner was a bright spot though, he help to assist in a sack with London Fletcher.  My other main area of concern is with Leonard Hankerson, he needs to step up now and the fan/media scrutiny will be extremely high now. Same can be said for Aldrick Robinson. Mike Shanahan may be forced to keep Brandon Banks if someone else cannot step up in the punt return game.

Ken

I was most impressed with the way the team executed its very vanilla game plan. You don’t look for coaches to unveil much of their playbook at this time of the year, so watching Rex Grossman orchestrate those impressive drives was a sight to see. He seemed comfortable, confident and effective. Those are not the first three words I would have envisioned using for him a month ago. On defense, I was impressed with what our defensive line did. It was immediately an improvement over what we did last season. I was concerned with our deep coverage, but on at least one deep play that the Steelers should have converted on, I would hope that LaRon and O.J. would make a significant difference.

Finally, the offensive line really impressed me, but when the live bullets start flying in September, I will be eager to see if they can carry over this kind of performance.

Star-divide

Steve

There were a number of things that impressed me in Friday's game, but I have to say the most impressive was quarterback Rex Grossman. Grossman did well in just about every area of the game. He kept the tempo up on the offense, consistently getting the Redskins to the line with 10-15 seconds to spare. He went through his progressions quickly, and looked very comfortable even when the offensive line broke down. Grossman was also highly accurate, which kept the chains moving and the Redskins defense on the sideline. Honorable mention awards should go out to Kyle Shanahan for his play calling, all 3 running backs, the defensive line, and the offensive line.

My biggest area of concern after the first preseason game is the depth on defense, particularly along the line and in the secondary. Overall the Redskins defense looked good, but in the 2nd half some depth issues were prevalent. While the top four Redskins on the defensive line depth chart (Barry Cofield, Stephen Bowen, Jarvis Jenkins, and Adam Carriker) had good to great games, the 2nd unit wasn't as fortunate. Kendrick Golston made a play or two, but he was going up against essentially the Steelers fourth string unit. Other than that there weren't many notable performances, which is troubling since the Redskins will likely keep three of those guys, and they couldn't succeed against guys that will be on the practice squad of the Steelers. The secondary also was a bit of a concern as Chris Horton looked awful regardless of the competition he was going up against. Also the Redskins depth corners were very raw, meaning injuries could be a major issue for Washington (particularly early on when Buchanon is suspended).

HTTR4LIFE

I was very impressed with the play of the offensive line and the team’s ability to showcase the offense behind it. The key ingredient to a successful team is to win the battle in the trenches and in that first preseason game, the Redskins did just that. With the line being under control it seemed like it didn’t matter which running back was inserted because whoever it was looked productive for the most part. Rex Grossman looked like a quarterback who feels comfortable and I thought that Donte Stallworth and Terrance Austin looked impressive in their route running. On the defensive side of the ball Markus White impressed me and showed he is quickly learning his new outside linebacker position and the starting defensive line looked solid as well.

Looking at what I considered was the weakest points of the team for the night, I have to talk about Leonard Hankerson and what appears to be a bit of the dropsies and horrible route running. If Hankerson is to become something in D.C. he needs to learn to run crisper routes and it appears that he has an issue with balls thrown over the middle. At first glance someone may think that the cornerback position looked weak as the Steelers had a couple of opportunities early on with the deep ball (one pass that was a for sure TD was over-thrown and the secondary was beat horrible on that play), I believe that is a direct result of the safety position being hit with injuries and players still recovering. Chris Horton looked like the weakest link on the field the entire night. Brandon Banks showed what he has on special teams; the new kickoff rule didn’t seem to affect him one bit has he ripped off a 58 yard return after taking the ball a good 8 yards deep, it’s going to be hard to cut a guy who has the "homerun" ability he has.

Kevin

What impressed me the most was the cohesion. Shanahan has brought in so many young & new guys, yet they played as if this was year three of the system. The lack of penalties was proof of that. My biggest area of concern is the safety position. It was a major problem last year, and with our two starters nursing injuries already, the drop-off in talent to our backups is scary. I'd like to see more out of Gomes, Horton, and Doughty over the next few pre-season games. The Steelers WRs had multiple instances where they beat us but luckily the QB threw a bad throw. Vick, Eli, and Romo won't make that mistake.

I have something a bit outside the box i want peoples opinion on.
How would you guys feel about a few snaps for key rookies with the big boys?
Letting Niles Paul and Hank, possibly even Robinson run a few routes against first team corners and seeing if Markus White can get into the backfield against a better O Line?

I'd like to see that

part of what was impressive of Royster was that he got some of those opportunities. It would be nice to see the WR’s, White and even Gomes get a couple 1st team plays this week. It is a bit harder for the O-line to do that since basically all of our starters could use the snaps.

Rak and Kerrigan need the reps...

Gomes is not a bad idea since our backup safeties are horrible…

our backup safeties are horrible…

By no reasonable metric are Doughty, Moore and Horton “horrible”

all are solid back ups who won’t kill you if they have to start a game or two, as all three have proven at one point or another.

Doughty

is the only one I would call “solid”, Moore couldn’t tackle a toddler and Horton couldn’t cover my grandmother on a deep route.

dumb exaggerations.
I don't know Smuts... Horton and Moore have looked pretty terrible...

I don’t know how much faith I’d have in them in a pinch. Gomes and Doughty looked a lot better.

I think once again people are getting obsessed with the new (Gomes) and piling on the old.

Moore had problems missing tackles in his 11 starts last year, but like I said, he’s not a good starter.

He’s however a fine back up who can fill in for a few games.

Horton had a great year in the past and there are worse back up DBs in the league.

Gomes looks promising and I get excited about our young players as much as anyone, but we can’t put him on the roster just yet.

yes but those guys are gone next year anyways

so why not have a guy like Gomes or a cheap trade for Mays than guys that in 3 years we know that they aren’t starters. At best (which I would still say is stretching it) Horton and Moore are backups that aren’t even that distinguishing as Special teamers.

I think that's always the question

keep around the vet who can fill in for a couple games and not fuck up too badly. Or keep the young guy around who’s still got a ton to learn.

I think ideally you balance between the two.

We just have to be careful to not give Gomes more credit than he’s due. We also need to accept that perhaps Mays has shown everything he has and he’s a bust, just like many predicted he would be.

You must not have watched Moore's play last season.

Or Horton’s coverage in this Steelers game.

i was surprised i remember horton as a preseason hero when he was a rook

Moore looks like crap on the field, i would rather start gomes

He was a regular season hero too

until he got injured and never returned to form.

stop living in the past

Kareem moore – how many tackles did he miss last season? more then enough, and that wqas supose to be his breakout year. he is a 3rd stringer in this league.

Horon- was good his rookie year….but he was a 7th rounder for a reaosn. since his injuries, he most definately degressed.

reed- in order for us to be better, we have to raise the bar, doughty has shown consistency in tackling. he is a sure tackler. he covers better with less athleticism.

gomez- for a rookie, he looks better in coverage then horton and can tackle. he is better then horton and moore RIGHT NOW

I was referring to Horton.

and if you actually read my posts you’ll see I said that both Moore and Horton were awful. Reading comprehension man, come on.

Keep 4 safties..

Locks: Landry, Atogwe
Barring injury: Doughty

That leaves Gomes, Horton, Moore, & Russell battling for 1 spot. Long way to go but I’m predicting that Gomes takes that spot.

I'd like to keep Gomes

and I really hope he develops into a starter by the time Atogwe’s contract is up.

It would be nice for Gomes to lock up that spot as one of only 2 backup safeties.

However, I think it’s possible that we keep 4 safeties PLUS Gomes as just a DB (nickel/dime back, plus the ability to back up the starting safeties).

That could be a good role for him.

He was kind of a utility/hybrid guy at Nebraska so he’s used to that.

maybe not individually

But I would be worried about having them both on the field at the same time. They seem to magnify each others weaknesses. I was a big a fan as any if Horton his rookie year, but let’s be honest – he was in the right place at the right time for a 4 or 5 game stretch. Other than that, he has done nothing to stand out. At least nothing positive. Remember when people were talking about trading Landry because we had Horton and Moore, who was billed as being even better than Horton? What a disaster that would’ve been.

Kerrigan def. does

but in reality it would be nice to have a competent 3rd OLB, to rotate in during the season

Markus White.

looks like that guy.

exactly lets give him some more reps
I'd argue the starters need their reps (since most are also young) just as much as the young guys.

Maybe rotate them in during the 3rd game when starters generally go 3 quarters.

It depends on what we cant see

These guys get opportunities in practice with the big boys…if they’re not getting action in preseason games with the 1s…than it’s probably deserved (drops, bad routes, missed blocks, etc).

True i just think its hard to evaluate a rookie when he isnt playing top competition

I know with the lockout shortened off season the preseason games are extra important but guys like Landry, Moss, Fletcher, Hall, and possibly even Orakpo and Armstrong dont need to go out there. I didn’t see anything from those guys I didn’t already know.

These guys need the reps too with new DLinemen, CB, SS, and OLB
Not to get off topic

But the Bills cut Aaron Maybin. I remember that draft and I was praying that they take him so we can get Orakpo..
It was similar to the feeling I got when the Wizards won the John Wall pick!!

I was so giddy I pee’d a little!!

What if Maybin

was a product of a bad system? Worth a look for depth.

Absolutely not.
you think?

Its a no risk look. Sign him for a year see if he can back up rak or even put him on the dl behind bowens

too small for 3-4 DE

and he couldn’t get any pass rush in the 3-4 as on OLB

He could not play DE

in a 3-4. But, I agree he could possibly add LB depth.

Waaaaaay too small for a 3-4 DE, he showed up at 228 lbs this year.
at 228 he's way too small to play 34 OLB too

Seems like the only thing he could play is in the 43

Of course he's worth a look

He’s got impressive speed and quickness and is still very young/raw, he certainly has the potential to excell in the right role in the 3-4. I’m a biased PSU fan, but there is no doubt the kid has talent.

still glad we got Rak though

But to have the both of them just to see what he has, I don’t remember a lot about him just that the redskins would’ve gotten him if we didn’t get Rak.

Buff picked before us, if I recall, and select Maybin two picks before we got Brian.
Sorry for confusion

Buf. Picked Maybin over Orakpo. Was would have grabbed maybin if buffalo took Rak.

I think they were leaning towards Oher if Orakpo wasn't there.

Either way, thank goodness Cleveland, Buffalo and Denver were too stupid draft Rak, and Snyder didn’t trade up for Sanchez.

really

Only reason Vinny has such a good pick on his resume is because he was prevented from making the stupid picks he wanted by other teams.

wasn't

that the year he wanted to give up to 1’s for OchoCinco?

He'll sign with the patriots

you watch.

2 seasons

is a bit harsh to judge someone on too.

there are rare cases were it's not too harsh

Maybe is one of them.

See

Johnson, Andre
Shuler, Heath

Maybin is GARBAGE.

Thank the 8lb baby Jesus that the Bills took Maybin instead of Orakpo. Maybin has as many sacks as I do in the league. No thanks

Is Beck practicing again?

What’s the word on him? Why are the coaches so high on him. Besides the old, he has more upside…

He's practicing

Saw work with 2nd team today and reportedly did not look good.

thanks for the update
at least his time off didn't change how he's been playing
Saw work with 2nd team today and reportedly did not look good.
Actually

he also got both first and second team reps. And agree, he was reported to be rusty.

I was amazed

At how many times they went back to show the Pittsburg QB, and he was picking himself off the ground. Good pressure all night.

"Vick, Eli, and Romo won't make that mistake."

Eli and Romo are certainly prone to that mistake. Let’s not give our division rivals too much credit now…

Very true

the Steelers are as tough as any of our divisional foes, probably tougher in a lot of respects, even if their roster appears to be aging a bit.

Nevertheless my impression hasn’t changed that this is going to be (another) season of very close games. Unless our offense puts up a lot more points per game than anticipated, something I doubt it will do, we can’t rely on the mistakes of our opponents.

They are all Pro-Bowlers. Believe me, I hate them….but they all put up huge #s in the passing game.

vick, romo and eli will make those throws too

no one id perfect.

Pressure

And we all know pressure up front can make an accurate QB look awful, so I hope we can continue putting pressure on QBs so they do make those errant throws.

Key to Football

Protect your QB, put pressure on theirs

the point is they are far better than Leftwich, Batch, and Dixon

Sure Roethlisberger had one of those overthrows, but it is the 1st preseason game, when we face Eli, Vick and Romo they will probably be in much better shape.

This article over on the steelers blog made me a little upset

Lots of jabs at the skins

http://www.behindthesteelcurtain.com/2011/8/14/2362269/report-from-devils-den-a-beautiful-night-a-stinker-of-a-game#storyjump

Hahahaha

Just like people from Pittsburgh to be narrow-minded and Pitt-centric.

Whoever wrote this makes Steeler games sound like a family-oriented freedom fest, where all are welcomed and beautiful women adorn the seats of Heinz field.

I have been to Steelers games….they are just like Redskins games. People are drunk, rude, and they hate on outsiders….

But that’s football and isn’t that why we like it?

And Also

What a terrible jab at the area around Fedex Field, referring to the neighborhood as reminiscent of the 38th parallel in Korea….

Maybe Landover isn’t the most beautiful place on earth, but trust me, there are plenty of places in Pittsburgh that aren’t beautiful either.

This blogger should take a jump off one of the bridges straight down into the Maungahunga river ;)

you can maybe say a lot of things about Pittsburgh, but Landover is AWFUL

it is one of the worst counties in the entire country, despite being surrounded my some of the greatest.

As for the location, the blogger is right, around Heinz is awesome…i mean they have a Casino in walking distance and a shit ton of bars…winning

i.e he's a Pittsburgh fan
That article had very little football in it

Claiming the skins gameplanned and called more exotic blitzs while offering no proof what so ever. Yawn. Long winded masturbation. Most of the article is spent bashing government officials and stadium locations.

Boring.

I think their head coach summed the game up well enough though.

I love the excuses though.

Your team is a joke and always will be. Get over it.
your franchise QB is a serial rapist

and always will be.

Back at it again...

Parks – so your concerns is over a cornerback that could never cover and a rookie wide receiver that has problems catching the ball…tell me something new
Ken – there is nothing vanilla about cornerback blitzes…and the playcalling from Kyle was basically what we have seen all last season (stretch runs and play actions)
Steve – Helu and Royster was not all that impressive…so the depth of our secondary concerns you? what about the starters?
HTTR – good
Kevin – solid

Everyone had decent to good answers with Kevin and HTTR having the best answers. Steve wanted to screw this up again, but it was too easy of a question to not screw up…

We're still waiting for your roundtable, you clown...
Tell Ken to put me HH FF League #1 first...

My leagues are always fun…I make a guarantee win list and post it in the message board for everyone to see plus I like this whole commissioner thing which I think I would make a great one. Probably add game of the week in my posts and spice up the results.

Oh and don’t be mad you stated things we all knew Captain Obvious

Seriously guys

Someone needs to get him in the #1 league ASAP

Ken is running the fantasy

And he only reads the comments from his posts (only 3% kidding)….I’d bring it up on his next post.

duly noted

I was 100% kidding with my statement though ha

Asking for help getting into a league and then insulting someone... You really have life figured out...
Who did I insult???
Myself, Steve, and everyone that reads this blogs intelligence.
You insulted everyone on Hogs Haven intelligence...

for thinking we didn’t know Hall can’t cover and Hankerson can’t catch. Maybe you should take notes from HTTR4Life…basically you guys are the main players and i’m the beat writer…DEAL WITH IT!!!

Did you read the question or do you just enjoy being a clown?
I believe you are in league #1

see we already have a rivalry going…

How would I have a rivalry with someone in the 3rd tier league?
How about being open to SEC-like expansion...

You guys should do like the SEC did and hold a vote to expand to 14 teams (13 if possible). Do that or get rid of a horrible team….like if Huff N Puff, PommyLee, or dirtbags is in the league then they have to go.

And I have yet to receive any kind of invite to league #3

I'll sell you my spot in league 1

Just know, it won’t come cheap.

Make your own fantasy league.
We just voted, you're actually in the 4th tier league now
correction: 5th tier
My bad... and it's actually a UFL Fantasy League...
Plus, in a UFL fantasy league...

nobody knows anything about the players or teams.

Oh no...the UFL FF league.....

just went from 6 to 4 teams. Sorry ATL….couldn’t make the cut again. Too bad talking doesn’t win championships. You seriously think the tact you have shown would get you in a league on here….you are a clown. This is coming from someone who arguably has no tact either…..so I know what I am talking about.

he bases the answers on his own questions, and then gives no support to his comments

i.e. he’s a Cowboys fan

Pretty good chance
did you read my comment???

You stated what we all knew. Oh you didn’t like butterfingers and Hall covering skills. If I had to write a roundtable entry I would be impressed with how we moved the ball (both air and ground game was efficient). My concern will be Haslett playcalling. Why is he doing CB blitzes in preseason. He don’t have much defensive plays in his playbook so he continuously call CB blitzes. It worked that night because we played a team that didn’t do any kind of preparation for this game, but keep doing that during the regular season and watch teams tear us apart…

You're right, we should just put 11 guys back in coverage...
wait how could the ground game be efficient if Royster and Helu weren't impressive??
No matter what they put.....

it would be obvious…..we ALL watched the game. It’s a round table discussion about something that has happened….not something that hasn’t. The facts have already been established. You think stating “If I had to write a roundtable entry I would be impressed with how we moved the ball (both air and ground game was efficient)”……wow….ground breaking stuff there. IT’S ALL OBVIOUS…..WE ALL WATCHED!!!

please enlighten me to where i went wrong?

How were the rookie backs not impressive?? note…not everyone can be Adrian Peterson

and for some reason me citing the depth of the DB’s as an issue, but I’m at fault for not blaming Hall whom you took another writer to task for…logic fail

why would you be worried about depth at the cornerback position...

when the starters did not even perform well. Its like saying I am worried about the performance of Todd Collins when Jason Campbell played horrible as well…

i still don't understand how someone can be wrong for blaming the starters and I am wrong for questioning the backups

Both can’t be wrong…yet both can be right. Just because Parks and Kevin questioned the starters it is a valid argument. Personally I feel that we will be fine with our starters (not great but fine), but our backups worry me. There is zero depth after Barnes, who also struggled some. Sure Buchanon is there, but he is gone the first 4 games and that worries me.

We will find out all about our secondary real soon....

when we get to take a look at the Colts. That’s there M.O., Find the weakness in the secondary, and exploit it….and they’re damned good at it.

Manning might not be playing next week. The backup QB is not as likely to test the Skins' DBs. Yet unless

the Colts bolstered the DL, the Skins may gain a lot of rushing yardage. The Texans did a job on the Colts last season and the Skins have an improved version of the ZBS comparable to the Texans.

Thats too bed about Manning....

I don’t really care that much about W-L in the preseason (although it’s still a lot of fun when we win) I would just like to see us tested as much as possible.
I think you are absolutely correct about the run game.

The Redskins looked above average for the first preseason game-BUT…

I am afraid to see the same problem we have had for more than six years
-we cannot seem to score more than 17 points-we can run up and down the field on a team but never put it in the end zone. Yes I know we would’ve broken 17 at all the Field goals were good. But that’s not the point-we shouldn’t be kicking field goals we should be scoring touchdowns.
I was very disappointed in Hankerson’s performance,. I am In infuriated that Kelly is injured again. I fear that we have no running backs who can pound it in from the five, and not a single red zone threat except for Chris. Davis did not do himself any favors if he wants to make the starting lineup

You're kidding

Did you watch how Hightower was running? He can certainly pound it from the 5.

I did watch the game and I admit that Hightower looks pretty good this point

But I did not see him punch it in from the five on Friday-nobody did. The only guy that scored a TD was good old Santana, just like it’s been for a seeming eternity. I don’t remember ever seeing Hightower score a lot of rushing TDs for the Cardinals either.

Well you must not watch the Cardinals that often...
I don’t remember ever seeing Hightower score a lot of rushing TDs for the Cardinals either.

He scored 18 rushing TDs in just his first two years! He was the definition of a touchdown vulture.

That's because we were never at the 5.

and HT scored a ton of TDs in ’Zona.

I stand corrected

But I blame my recent use of substantial narcotics

Okay, I was wrong

"But I blame my recent use of substantial narcotics"

You were on Phish tour too?

i saw you

with a ticket stub in your hand

Just did the West Coast run and can barely type or read anymore

I was kinda pissed Chris Wilson wasn’t re-signed so we can’t have any more “Wilson! King of Pressure, I lay this hit on you”

agreed

……but we got Josh WILLLLLLSSSOOONNNNNN!!!!!!!

nicely done....
Very few of the Skins' players did not see the action on the ball field. Keyaron Fox showed that there is some ILB

depth. Riley played OK on pass coverage as well. It is well worth mentioning that a lot of QBs look good if they are getting protection from the OL. It will not be until there is success in the Giants game ithat I would be on the Kool-aid since players on both sides will play like the game means something. There is still some money for free agents that the Team could use for CBs.

Fox reminded me a lot of Albert Fincher a couple of years ago.

The guy was all over the place and a preseason stud, although he ended up being cut. Hopefully Fox can provide some quality depth over H.B., errr… excuse me, Horatio Blades.

I would rather be homeless here than live in Pittsburgh
Good.

We don’t need any more retards.

True.

Way too many spineless fucks in shitsburgh as it is

I live in Oregon...

and it’s a million times nicer than either of those places. Plus our NFL team is undefeated.

??????
Plus our NFL team is undefeated

I was unaware that Oregon had an NFL team. Maybe someday…….

Actually...

I feel like I’ve got a win-win situation with the Skins right now. If they play well, that’s great. If they can’t turn it around, Danny eventually fires Shanny, the fans—finally fed up with terrible stadium/ticketing policies AND a crappy team—revolt, and Snyder is forced to sell the team.

Then I hire Leo DiCaprio and that cute artsy chick to infiltrate three dream levels into Phil Knight’s consciousness, where they will plant the simple idea of “never tell a lie.” This idea transforms to “George Washington” in the second dream level, and then to “Washington Redskins” in the first level. When Phil wakes up, he’ll decide to purchase the Skins and move them to Portland, and I’ll become an inaugural season ticket holder. And then I’ll marry that artsy chick.

And even if that doesn’t happen, I’ll just create my own reality in which it does. And we all know from the movies that it’s not about which reality is real, but which reality brings you happiness. It doesn’t matter if the top was going to fall down or not.

Umm... Wut?
If you're parodying a confusing movie...

I think it’s good that people are confused by your parody.

The weed is very good in Oregon from what I hear.
I hear that too.

Never had anything to compare it with.

Do you ever wonder why you've been banned by 4 SB Nation blogs? Make it 5...
I'm actually drafting Hightower for my FF team (good 3rd RB)

RB: (UP) position looks solid.
QB: (UP) I admit Sexy Rexy was better than advertised.
O-line: (UP) I see good things… did not allow a sack… against NFL players trying to impress their coach!
WR: (Neutral) Moss, Gaffney, Austin, Stallworth (Good) All other WRs (Mehh) Hankerson (Ugly)
LB: (UP) Rookie White will make the team, London… nuff said, our LBs are OK
Front 3: (UP) Wow, talk about upgrade at a position, love the new aquisitions (draft and FA)
SS: (DOWN) Weak… glad we got Dejon Gomes… he and LL should be OK
FS: (Neutral) Need to see more… not happy so far
CB: (DOWN) Our weakest link in the 1st game… but… they are provn players… should get better

FS will be solid

when “Oshi” (think Yoshi without the Y) gets back.

what do you guys think? he doesnt like OJ since it has nothing to do with his name other than start with O. Oshi might be a good nickname.

He doesn't like OJ?

I can respect that. I kind of like OA, since it reminds ne of Who’s the Boss?…AO, OA.

Breakout of Redskins contracts and cap

I’ve used this sight in the past, and they updated their table yesterday. If you want to see the cap situation, full details on contrats, costs or savings for cutting a player, etc.

http://www.thewarpath.net/WarpathRedskinsCap.htm

Moss, for example, would count $6.3 million in 2013, or $2.1 million in dead cap if he is cut this year.

I’ve been looking for this and this is the first place I’ve found with all the details of the contracts signed this season.

Stadiums need cheap labor to run them.

I think it is necessary to put all stadiums in poor areas. I can only base this on the stadiums I’ve been to though. So far it seems to hold true.

misplaced reply, sorry. This was in response to the Pittsburg article describing Landover.

Landover

I was saddened from the very first time I heard that they were moving the stadium from DC to Landover. Landover has nothing of value. I live near it and it continues to depress me and the fans going to the stadium
Take, for example, the contrast of the prime location that has resulted from businesses and community that has built around Verizon Center and starting to around Nationals Park. It makes the whole experience much better. I wish that RFK’s waterside spot could be used, beautified and grown into the potential it has.
Thank goodness football is back, pre-season or not and thanks for the good conversations. I’m a new guy here, so forgive me if I was way off topic and blew the conversation.

agreed Landover was just an awful decision

there is nothing around it and it is a pain to get to

I’ve had the great pleasure of working outside of Newark, NJ for the new home of the Jets and Giants. I think these owners will pay for it in the long run. They have yet to sell out. I’m seeing 50-60k through the turnstiles. The most was about 70,000 for the last Phili game. People don’t want to go there either.

Agreed.

It would be an accessible location with a large available workforce.

Has anyone heard what the deal is with Phil Buchannon?? Is he not allowed to play in preseason either…he didnt play friday and im wondering if its because shanny is punishing him?? anyone have any idea

less importantly… any more word on James Davis pullin a Zambrano??

Buchanon's allowed to play preseason.

He’s just suspended for the first 4 games. And Davis I haven’t heard anything new on, or really care to.

James Davis is done

"I think he’s retired from football. That’s my guess," Shanahan said following Tuesday’s practice, the second straight day Davis was absent from Redskins Park.
"Has anybody seen him? I haven’t seen him yet," Shanahan.

These round tables are so scripted and boring
Corrected

these roundtablesObey’s comments are so scripted and boring.

fuck it…wasn’t worth a reply anyway.

Yeah...

you should write more about horses or basketball in your round table posts. That would make them more unpredictable.

The most succesful franchise in NFL history

happens to be the team that kicked your ass at the SB: the Green Bay Packers. Why do all Steelers fans believe that the history of the NFL began when they drafted “Mean” Joe Greene? Probably because they used to be one of the leagues worst franchises. They just want to remember the good times, they are not real fans but a bunch of clowns with a stupid towel.
