Each Friday Hogs Haven will travel back in time to recap a previous game against this weeks current Redskins opponent.

On September 19, 1999 the Redskins and Giants faced off in an early season NFC East battle on a beautiful fall afternoon that was perfect football weather. Unfortunately the game had to be played in one of the armpits of NFL stadiums, The Meadowlands. Of course the other armpit of the NFL back then was Veterans Stadium…what disgustingly vial places. Ok, I’m getting off track here, back to the game.

The Redskins were coming off an opening day heart-breaking loss to the Cowboys during which the Skins blew a 21 point lead. But, the Redskins showed no ill effects from the Cowboy game. In fact, the Redskins came out looking like the 2011 Packers did last night…the Skins were firing on all cylinders. The Redskins led 21-0 after the first quarter, 33-14 at halftime and 43-13 after the third quarter. The Redskins truly took the Giants to the woodshed for an ass-beating on this day. Final score: Redskins 50 Giants 21.

Star-divide

The offense was led by Stephen Davis and his 126 yards rushing and 3 TD’s. Brad Johnson had a very efficient 20-28, 231yd, 3 TD day. Stephen Alexander had a career day with 2 TD’s and 86 yards.

Defensively the stars were Shawn Barber, Matt Stevens, Kenard Lang and Darryl Pounds. Barber and Stevens had interceptions with Barber returning his 70 yards for a TD. Lang and Pounds added sacks.

By the end of the game Casey Weldon was taking a knee in the victory formation and the Redskins had scored the most points in an away game in the history of the franchise. The 1999 Redskins squad would go on to win the NFC East, the last Redskins team to do so.

I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for some football.

Cheers and Hail

Can't believe that was over 10 years ago.
Yea had REACH FAR.....

back in the game film to find a beating of the Giants by the Skins lol.

Yea well we didn't want to fire up the future time machine, it's just too easy to go forward three days.
lol

What are you a middle school girl?

I was kidding...

Get over it!

Yea well we didn't want to fire up the future time machine, it's just too easy to go forward three days.

As for that little comment, all I can say is we’ll see! I’ll be there to see it!

Reply fail

this was supposed to be a reply to Parks

It's alright

We all know you have to be brain-damaged to be a Jints fan.

are you from new york or do you just like the colors?

Born and raised...

Long Island NY. Why does that even matter?!

So you do know you're be taken behind the wood shed Sunday? Since you were kidding.
How did the Giants lose a point from the 2nd to the 3rd quarter.

We’re we really that good! Amazing.

Upon further review

the extra point attempt was no good

Was this the game when Davis ran into a pile there was no whistle and he bounced outside for a TD?
I've seen just 2 Redskins win against the Giants

since following the team, beginning to think I might be a bit of a jinx (sorry)

It happens in cycles....

The Giants beat the Eagles 9 times in a row early in the 2000s and now they’ve beaten the Giants 6 in a row! It just goes like that sometimes.

It just goes like that sometimes.

Or all the time when your owner is making personnel decisions and your head coach is Jim Zorn.

As long as Bruce

keeps feeding Danny those sedatives and diverting all incoming calls from Vinny we should finally be able to stay on the right track!

I think they replaced Danny's office phone...

..with a Playschool See N’ Say Phone. He has yet to figure it out.

Norv Turner

say what you want about him, but the Redskins haven’t approached Norv’s team offensively since he left. San Diego seems to be pretty good…

Norv

will always obtain the respect as a OC and that’s about it! Until he actually wins a SB from the title as HC!

'05 offense was pretty dirty.
As a head coach

Norv makes a great Offensive Coordinator.

Please refrain

From using that name around here.
Seriously, people who immersed in hatred for Snyder, while justified, need to realize that this team was JUST AS BAD for the 6 years before he bought the team. Norv Turner took a perfectly good storied franchise and destroyed it. Snyder just piled dirt on the rubble.

Was this pic

before or after the fight between Davis and Westbrook….

I just want to see the Skins playing like a team again. That’s all.

is cooley playing this week?

been thinking of picking him up on my fantasy team this week.

up in the air

he’s limited in practice so far

He made it sound

Like he would be playing whe he was on the Junkies this morning

If we don't win this bitch with their defense in the state that it is...

No positives will be found in my book. There’s no reason why our backs shouldn’t have solid efforts and Rex doesn’t get more than enough time to be effective.
If we can’t beat the Giants as they are right now, when will we?

Depends

if Tuck plays or not and how effectively he plays in my opinion. Dude is a straight up leader on that defense. Hard to overcome that loss.

Tuck is out

I’m with Dammitt. If they can’t beat the Giants with half their defense injured there is something seriously wrong with the team.

Tuck practiced today
I have faith in Williams/Brown on Tuck

especially now since he becomes the focal point of their rush (if he is a go).
Kiwanuka will rush on passing downs and Pierre-Paul and Canty are still factors, but nevertheless, they are hurting.
This game in my opinion will come down to whether or not our DEFENSE will be able to keep Jacobs and Bradshaw in check. I expect another 1 TD/1 INT game from Eli, who’s never anything special against Washington, it’s that damn running game.
So if we’re able to slow down the healthy Giants offense, I feel that’s our best chance of winning, because there will be no excuse for not scoring 20 or more on that defense with the staff we have, the new and better fitting personnel, and their starters hurting.

Really?

well let Osi tell everyone he’s the unquestioned leader for the G-Men….

As long as this one

is better than the first meeting in FedEx Field. I spent four hours listening to that on the radio. (No cable where I was.) What a waste of time. That’s probably why I hate the Giants so much. I’m not sure how Frerotte giving himself a concussion caused Michael Westbrook’s brain damage…oh wait, Westbrook was never smart to begin with. If he keeps his helmet on, the Redskins are in the playoffs that year.

I was at that game

the fans in the stands had no idea why Frerotte was out of the game.

Me too

I knew though, because I saw him do it. I was never a Frerotte fan though, so I didn’t care.

That was the game I FINALLY threw in the towel on Westbrook.
