List of Former Redskins on Super Bowl Bound Giants and Patriots Rosters

It's safe to say that Redskins fans, myself include, detesting seeing former Redskins players that couldn't put it together here do well elsewhere. Devin Thomas made two key fumble recoveries yesterday, but being a gunner isn't exactly what's expected from a 2nd round draft pick. Andre Carter is a guy who is easy to root for. He showed up to work every day and was simply was a casualty of the system. It's so unfortunate we won't get to watch him play on Super Sunday.

If there's any silver lining here, at least we don't have to risk watching Haynesworth making a key play to win the Super Bowl. I'm sure he's on a boat somewhere with no clue football is still going on.

Active: Devin Thomas
IR: Justin Tryon (broken wrist)
Practice Squad: RB Andre Brown, Tackle Selvish Capers
Coaches: Jesse Armstead (Player Development Consultant), OL Coach Pat Flaherty (Redskins TE coach in 2000), TE Coach Michael Pope (Redskins TE Coach 1997-1999), DL Coach Robert Nunn (Redskins DLine Coach in 2003).
IR: Andre Carter

  • WR Domenik Hixon was active for 4 games with Denver under Mike Shanahan in 2007.
  • Since 2000, Redskins have 4 regular season wins over the eventual Super Bowl Champions (2010 Green Bay, 2007 Giants, 2003 Pats, and 2000 Ravens). If the Giants win the Super Bowl, that'll be league-leading 5. Bizarre.
  • Another interesting (rather well known) story line: Pat's DLine Coach, Pepper Johnson, has been with Belichick for 12 years now and of course had an illustrious career with the Giants. Pepper now has five Super Bowl rings. His Aunt gave him the nickname "Pepper" since she noticed he liked to sprinkle pepper on his cereal as a kid.

Maybe I don't understand.

But if the Giants win, wouldn’t that give us 6? Being that we beat them nearly to death this season?

Reading this stuff forms a little ball of rage in the pit of my stomach.
Actually....Shanahan drafted Hixon
I don't know if anybody else saw this

but when Devin Thomas recovered that final fumble, all of the giants players on the team were huddled in a circle congratulating the guy who caused the fumble, while Thomas was still on the ground. Thomas then got up, ran to the huddled mass of Giants players looking for his own congratulatory praise, only to find no room in the inn within the huddle. He shuffled about the periphery slapping shoulder pads. It made me chuckle, and I feel in a way it encapsulates the perception I had of Thomas while he was here: that no one cared for him, because he was too self-centered.

Yeah. I noticed that. It was pretty funny.
He certainly can run down the field in a straight line...
Yup.

Thomas is a special teamer who will be out of the league in 3 years.

Yep...I was laughing at that too.
I will give Vinnie Cerrato credit. He sure knows how to draft special teamers in the 2nd round.
Ummmm...

Wouldn’t that be 6 regular season wins? We swept NYG this year

It can go either way I guess

I think it’s more the point we beat the Super Bowl winner in the year. Giants were pretty banged up week 1 as well.

It should be five one way or the other (*six if the Giants win*)

Since Santana was not only robbed by the refs, they pretty much stole his car, roughed him up, took his wallet and looked up where he lived, and went to visit his family in the New England game…. he score that touchdown.

IF the giants win, that is

Nothing gave me more pain than seeing Devin Thomas practically send the team I hate more than any other to the Super Bowl..

He may steal a ring, but at least Haynesworth won’t.

The only outcome

I would’ve been happy with was SanFran winning it all. Now, I guess, I’m gonna actually have to root for Tom Brady. Ugh

no rooting for cross dressers
Great mantra

But does that mean you’re gonna root for the alternative?

no i'm hoping that they both lose

or somebody breaks tom bradys leg that way he can get his cast designed to look like an ugg boot. I mean seriously if rex grossman decided to wear uggs everyone would make fun of him.

I wanted the giants to win last time they played (wasn’t rooting for them)

I hate my life. I hate seeing the same team in the superbowl year after year.

Which insufferable fan base to root for?

It may be a perfect day for a movie.

Neither are good fan bases.

I’ll cheer for the Giants since I can’t stand Belichick. If if were the Cowboys or Eagles, it would be a different story, but the Giants aren’t a football-first city.

we should be in this superbowl.....

damn you mike shanahan for making rex grossmen and john beck our only options at qb!!!

What's Pepper Rodgers' excuse?
Why list coaches?
Coaches: Jesse Armstead (Player Development Consultant), OL Coach Pat Flaherty (Redskins TE coach in 2000), TE Coach Michael Pope (Redskins TE Coach 1997-1999), DL Coach Robert Nunn (Redskins DLine Coach in 2003).

Most of whom haven’t been here in a decade and considering Snyder’s penchant for firing head coaches who bring in new assistants. That’s sort of a filler.
