RT's 5: Making the smart move - Rich Tandler's Real Redskins
Rich Tandler’s five thoughts possibly related to the Washington Redskins and other matters.
Mike Shanahan doesn’t need to see how the Redskins beat one Super Bowl participant (the Giants) twice by a combined 27 points and lost to the other (New England) by a touchdown to further convince himself of his team’s path.
Redskins need a QB, a WR — and some common sense - The Washington Post
I’d love to see the Redskins draft RGIII. There is nothing but upside for the lucky team that gets Baylor’s Robert Griffin III. And there’s no question the Redskins need some upside, and a quarterback.
The Redskins Blog | Kerrigan Talks Senior Bowl, Off The Field

The Redskins Blog | Nationals’ Gonzalez: ‘Hail To The Redskins’
For whatever reason, it’s not terribly often that there is legitimate crossover in Washington area sports. Sure, there’s the occasional Redskins player that throws out the first pitch, or the Capitals owner in the stands at a Redskins game, but there isn’t a long-standing relationship.

Two Top Prospects Match Up At Senior Bowl

Haslett sees talent on South defense
They don’t have a bubble here, so the practices have been moved into a nearby convention hall because of heavy rains, so no workout report for today. That leaves time for some leftover notes:
NFL.com Blogs " Blog Archive Ware: Eli playing like a Manning "
Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware certainly is familiar with the Giants, having played his NFC East rivals twice this season. Ware said the key for the Super Bowl-bound team is how well they’ve come together at the end of the season and having a quarterback with the last name Manning.

Rex Grossman Quote of the Day:
“And there’s a lot of areas you can improve: the quarterback play needs to be better, a lot of different other areas, an explosive offensive player, maybe an explosive defensive player here and there”
Gee Rex, ya don’t say….
StephanHart - January 27, 2012
I'm so over Grossman
It was enough he was the center of every discussion DURING the season. I wish the draft was today.
Kevin Ewoldt - January 27, 2012
It wouldn’t break my heart if the guy NEVER wears Burgundy and Gold again…..he may know the system, but he DOES NOT execute it worth a damn.
HTTR4LIFE - January 27, 2012
what?!
how can you not love the most exciting player in the NFL®… but seriously I don’t mind him coming back as a backup. Hard to fault his attitude even if he can’t back it up.

I've seen better looking punts
Than what Rex Grossman calls a “deepball.”
Ohio Redskins - January 27, 2012
Wow…Vikings offered Raheem the Def Coord position and he said No only b/c he already said Yes to us. I like this guy.
Kevin Ewoldt - January 27, 2012
Makes me think that somewhere down the line he expects to move up to D coord here
PJ_21 - January 27, 2012
I don't think he is very experienced in 3-4 defense...
now, he will get some this year, but I don’t know if he moves up quickly.
Also, I don’t know if Haslett is going anywhere…
I am glad to have RM this year. Let’s see what next year brings…
jgibbsfan1 - January 27, 2012
Makes me think
He must’ve hung out with Trent and Fred while he was here. Leslie Frazier may not be long for that team. That job could’ve been a fast track back to another HC job.
Of course, he could just be looking forward to the opportunity of working with D. hall.
CJHutch - January 27, 2012
the other factor is that Vikings defense is a bit of a mess right now
the back 7 is pretty awful where as the Redskins are in a better overall place and if we get some DB help he could quickly look like a genius.
Steve Shoup - January 27, 2012
I actually thought he was a decent head man. I bet he gets another chance down the road.

HTTR4LIFE - January 27, 2012
holy crap! That team is OLD…
Skins Fan '77 - January 27, 2012
Agreed, I’m thinking the Steelers will be either out of the playoffs or one and down the next few years as they start to rebuild the aging pieces…as soon as Dick Lebeau retires I’m looking for a dip altogether from them.
HTTR4LIFE - January 27, 2012
Thank God...a changing of the guard in the NFL would be nice
StephanHart - January 27, 2012
If Fletcher doesn’t re-sign, I may end it…
Brutus89 - January 27, 2012
one guy just came on the radio
And said he saw Jason Campbell around here and Jason told him he met with the skins front office. This is just what I heard on 106.7. I don’t believe it

A Beat guy or just a caller
StephanHart - January 27, 2012
just some caller...
he claims that JC told him he was in town to talk to the Redskins… That’s all the caller could say. He couldn’t even confirm he was a good friend of JC or not (NOT), so there is no credence to the callers report.
jgibbsfan1 - January 27, 2012
It was LJP… sounds just like him
Skins Fan '77 - January 27, 2012
Haha
No chance JC comes back here. But I found it odd when he was at the Wizards game last week. Courtside with the Leonsis’.
CJHutch - January 27, 2012
I just heard it also...
what a load of crap…
JC is never coming back here… Thank god….
jgibbsfan1 - January 27, 2012
haha i couldnt help but laugh when he said that
He was at a bullets game a little while ago

atark001 - January 27, 2012
yes
Kevin Ewoldt - January 27, 2012
He's still under contract?
Rekka - January 27, 2012
Yes, until FA starts in March
StephanHart - January 27, 2012
The first question in the Shanahan interview with NFL Network
was great! And, I like his answer. Basically, when it’s all said and done, they didn’t really know if Kerrigan could convert to a 3-4 LB, but it tells me that they had some really good guys evaluating him, and making sure that what he was doing in all the drills and preparation, gave him a great chance to succeed at it. Makes me feel like there are some good football minds in this organization now. Refreshing!!
