[Redskins scouts] also spoke with WR Juron Criner of Arizona. Criner had great day today, and had probably the highlight of all the practices so far, when he had a gorgeous one-handed catch. Criner is among the players here that has helped his stock in a big way.
DT Kheeston Randall from Texas got some attention from what looked like a Redskins scout. Randall checked in at 6'4, 297. Not sure if he'd project as a DE in the Redskins' 3-4, or as a NT.
And finally, they spoke with CB Dwight Bentley of Louisiana-Lafayette. If the Skins decide to cut bait with DeAngelo Hall, they'll need to fill that hole, and they could probably use more depth at corner anyway. Bentley could be a late round target for CB depth.
I talked to JimmyK and he said the Redskins scouts were quite interested in Ben Jones, the outstanding Center from Georgia, who can also play Guard. He's projected as a 2nd round pick. Jones was also a team captain, which of course was a running theme in Shanahan's draft last year.

what is D hall' s status
is he at the end of his contract? I know he’s missed some plays and poor tackling but I think he performs better when there is something worth playing for. I think he has the talent; put him on a superbowl caliber team and my guess is he will play up to par. He seems to play to his surroundings.
Rodskins - January 28, 2012 via Android app
He’s signed through 2014. He’s $6mil this year, $7.5mm next year, $9.5mm in 2014.
Kevin Ewoldt - January 28, 2012
also he's got little guaranteed money so you can cut bait with next to zero penalty
Steve Shoup - January 28, 2012
Thats exactly what
the whole team does. They play to the level of their talent.
Wilmncskinsfan - January 28, 2012
they also talked to mike adams as well
i think a dream scenario would be to grab mike adams, tannehill, ben jones, bentley if we traded back from 6.
davetrembling - January 28, 2012
i've not been a fan of Jones this week, the Redskins coaching staff said good things about both Jones and Phil Blake, but to me Blake has looked better
Steve Shoup - January 28, 2012
I would not object if we snagged Ben Jones in April. Instant upgrade along the interior line.
Brutus89 - January 28, 2012
yet... the reviews from bloggers attanding the practices haven't been good.
1x1an - January 28, 2012
I’d rather look at his body of work than Senior Bowl practices. Bad snaps from under center earlier this week won’t stop Foles from being one of the higher QBs taken.
Brutus89 - January 28, 2012
Don't get me wrong... he's been a starter from the beggining... speaks volumes of his agility!
I like him… I just think that we’ll keep Monty…. Cook apparently is training with UFC folks to get better…. so Shanny might go with a lower round (5-7) C instead.
1x1an - January 28, 2012
We need a right guard though, and if he’s as versatile as we hear, I could take a flyer.
Brutus89 - January 28, 2012
RG - What's wrong with Chester?
Donnio1234 - January 28, 2012
he's a replacement level starter at best...i realize on our line that makes him like our 2nd best lineman but thats not a good thing
Steve Shoup - January 29, 2012
its not his snaps (though they haven't been great), its his anchor
he’s getting pushed around by the likes of Powell and Randall neither of whom are top 100 picks (Powell might not be a top 200 pick).
Steve Shoup - January 28, 2012
I was talking about Foles, not Jones. He was having problems in the first practice taking the snaps from under center.
Brutus89 - January 28, 2012
I think we want WR Criner, the CB from Vandi (forgot his name) and QB Wheeden
We might get another QB late.
1x1an - January 28, 2012
I think we'll tradeback... pickup OT Adams (at RT) and then the ones I mention above.
1x1an - January 28, 2012
his name is Casey Hayward
and he had 7 int’s last year. I think he’d be a great pick up in the third round.
Ajay Atayee - January 28, 2012
I hope so... from what I've read... our staff seems interested in him!
We need help at secondary!
1x1an - January 28, 2012
Hayward's the corner, i'm real high on him this week
Steve Shoup - January 28, 2012
keep an eye on
WR marvin mcnutt and C philip blake
skinzaholic56 - January 28, 2012 via mobile
agreed
Steve Shoup - January 28, 2012
McNutt could be a late round steal as a short field-intermediate receiver.
Brutus89 - January 28, 2012
Mayock
Anyone noticed that Mayock has Reiff rated as the number one offensive tackle and Kalil as number two? I thought that was interesting. Ben Jones has looked okay in the game. I would like for us to consider Brewster, the center from Ohio State also. He’s looked pretty good. Molk, from Michigan, won the Rimington Award but he’s not in Mobile. He seems like a good fit for the ZBS. I think our quarterback for next year is playing today.
Fred Dudley - January 28, 2012
I think they are pretty close, that's why i have no problem taking Reiff at 6
Steve Shoup - January 28, 2012
steve-any major revisions to your mock after the week?
Redskin44 - January 28, 2012
oh big time, a lot of risers and fallers
not as much in the first round, since a lot of the 1st round talent (K. Wright, D. Still, M. Barron etc.) had to pull out. But a lot of guys will be moved around in my next mock, then next week I’ll revise my player rankings
Steve Shoup - January 29, 2012
Mayock always does this.
It’s hard to take him seriously when he constantly plays devil’s advocate and shows poor reasoning.
Horcasitas4 - January 29, 2012
huh?
what do you mean poor reasoning?
Steve Shoup - January 30, 2012
Criner
I was trying to scout Nick Foles highlights on youtube and was blown away by Juron Criner (#82). I didn’t even know who he was before I saw this video, but he really made Foles look good with the catches he made. You would almost think it was a Criner highlight video. I would love to see Criner in a Redskin uniform come next season. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhaehG4uWoY
y2kctiger - January 29, 2012
Mike likes Sr Bowl guys
he signed a bunch of guys who played well last year, and there is something to be said about a man who plays well against players who are of similar ability.
