Will be interesting
to see who are the starters.
UkRedskin - January 28, 2012
Betcha Shanny doesn't start the ones he's interested in...
In poker terms… he wouldn’t want to tip his hand!
1x1an - January 28, 2012
I. Want. Weedon.
Andrew DeFrank - January 28, 2012
I think I'm with you
Im a little afraid that we won’t be able to accurately predict where he will be taken.
Say we think he is safe for us to get at the top of the third.
But then he’s gone mid-second.
His weird set of pro’s and con’s make him hard to place.
tman5 - January 28, 2012
He's shown to be the most ready of the ones that might be available to us at 6th overall.
I wouldn’t mind him under center.
1x1an - January 28, 2012
Brandon Boykin is my favorite player in this game.

Winn, Wolfe, Reyes, and Jerod-Eddie are here today
Bequette is as well, but he’s working with the LB’s , probably will move to the 3-4 OLB
Steve Shoup - January 28, 2012
I saw on twitter just a minute ago that the Redskins had a long meeting with...
Wait for it…drumroll please….Russell Wilson.
iH8dallas - January 28, 2012 via mobile
You mean the 5'11" QB from the team who almost never threw the ball?
1x1an - January 28, 2012
Snark not needed.
Just repeating what I saw. No dog in the fight.
iH8dallas - January 28, 2012 via mobile
Me neither... I didn't sleep well... and there's no beer in the fridge!
You’d be upset too :-)

Brutus89 - January 28, 2012
Just want to say we shouldn't read into any of these interviews
they are going to have a pretty long interview with every player down here. It’s a great way to do your homework, and on top of that it disguises who they really are interested in.
Steve Shoup - January 28, 2012
If Shanny is
actually intrigued by Russell Wilson, he’d be even more inclined to go shorter, running the Brandon Banks Wildcat all season.
ripST - January 28, 2012
Weeden is starting.
Kevin Ewoldt - January 28, 2012 via mobile
The Senior Bowl? For the Redskins next season? Both?
I wouldn’t mind him under center! Not worried about his age either.
1x1an - January 28, 2012
Im coming around on it.
Kevin Ewoldt - January 28, 2012 via mobile
Honestly,
Weeden could be the guy who makes us Legit, but not superstars. Could be Mike’s man for 5 years, than grab a Kyle QB to develop for 2 years or so.
If we continue with the discipline and talent being added, we don’t need a superstar QB right away. We can be the falcons or the jets, who form a good, solid, deep teams, and then we could splurge for a QB a number of years from now.
tman5 - January 28, 2012
at 6??
At 6 we should be taking a player that we can have in the orginzation for a good long time, people saying his age isn’t an issue are ignoring the fact that we’re missing out on about 5-6 years of his playing career.
Rekka - January 28, 2012
I understand your point here....
but I think the “fact” that we are missing out on years is as debatable as anything else here. I suppose Carson Palmer still has a career but he hasn’t been the same since the big injury. I concede this is not common, but it happens, Predicting the length of anybody’s pro career is a fools errand. Also, most seem to think that Weeden would be ready to go right out of the gate, while Floes/Tannehill would need to sit for awhile. That would mean we would need to spend more resources on another starting QB. All that being said, I like the idea of bringing in Weeden, but no, not at #6.
MagicHat - January 29, 2012
that's really my only point of contention
Second round,, late 1st sure,
at #6 a team should be getting a premium talent that they’re gonna have for a good long time. And while you’re right in that trying to predict how long a career will be, there is still ahuge difference between a 23 year old rookie and a guy that’s gonna be 29 when the season starts
Rekka - January 29, 2012
Donno if anyone else is watching, but just saw Weeden with the play action/throw to the intermediate dig-route. That has Kyle Shanahan written all over it.
Brutus89 - January 28, 2012
What channel? Is it just in the NFL network?
1x1an - January 28, 2012
yea
Brutus89 - January 28, 2012
Yeah it does,
I still don’t like him as a QB because of his age but I have to admit that he has looked very good all week
ENsDad27 - January 28, 2012
I’d be happy with 6-7 years if he pans out. As Redskins fans, we haven’t had that kind of QB tenure even.
Brutus89 - January 28, 2012
haha +1
Steve Shoup - January 28, 2012
Agree... he's all you look for in a leader (from a Human Resources POV)...
Not too young (maturity), not too old (health). Married (not too wild). Poised. Strong arm (he can make all NFL throws). Etc.
I’ll take him over a developmental kid anyday… We’ll still grab a low rd QB… but he looks like a starter.
1x1an - January 28, 2012
If he is able to start immediately
& can play until he is 35 or 36 then I agree, I am not sure that he can do both. If he is our QB next year tho, I’ll be glad not to see Rex giving the ball away
ENsDad27 - January 28, 2012
I like the idea of grabbing him with the 2nd rounder. We’ll able to add to his support with the 6th pick/wherever we are in the 1st.
Brutus89 - January 28, 2012
I think if we really want Weeden
We need to aggressively pursue a tradeback in the first round. We should seek to have two 2nd round picks.
That way if Weeden is projected as a third round pick, we have the luxury of taking him 1/2 way into the 2nd round, instead of reaching at the top of the 2nd round.
tman5 - January 28, 2012
From what I read on HH - Weeden could easily go in the first round
and definitely early in the second. He’s probably going to be the #3 QB. So if we don’t want to lose him, we better grab him at 20+.
Donnio1234 - January 28, 2012
That is way too high for Weeden
i would not take him before 4th rd,
Highspeed30 - January 28, 2012
then you won't come close to getting him, i think he's early 3rd at worst
Steve Shoup - January 29, 2012
i dont want him
i am not that impressed with him, he dont respons well to pressure, and he will see some pressure with the Redskins, and i am not talking about the senior bowl, just seen games where he makes bad decisions when pressured, and he seems to overthrow receivers a lot, it is still gonna take him time to get adjusted at least a year and he will be 29 when season starts i will pass
Highspeed30 - January 29, 2012
considering how accurate he was this season and this week I don't by the 'overthrow' receivers idea at all.
i really think he’s a day one starter, and with in a year will be a good one.
Steve Shoup - January 29, 2012
looking good in practice where you know you aint gonna get hit
in 7 on 7 is one thing but i seen him in games where he overthrow receivers, and did not respond well to pressure. you got to be able to do it with live bullets flying, i dont see where he would be able to come right in and start day 1, not gonna happen
Highspeed30 - January 29, 2012
i just don't know what games you are talking about
he only had one game where his completion % was under 60% and just 2 where it was under 66%
Steve Shoup - January 29, 2012
+1
munson21502 - January 29, 2012
I’d be shocked if Weeden beat out Tannehill, especially if he attends the combine, which, from what I’m hearing, his foot will be far enough along to allow him too.
Brutus89 - January 28, 2012
I guess he flopped at the Senior Bowl - the game, anyway
Foles did better.
Donnio1234 - January 29, 2012
hopefully, though i'd guess at best he'd be limited to throw
so he won’t get to show his mobility or athletic ability
Steve Shoup - January 29, 2012
I agree
With the sixth pick, if Trent Richardson is available, I’m hoping Cincy would want to trade both of their first to jump up and grab him. I know that’s a total fantasy scenario but we would have the 17th and 22nd picks in the first. We could use the 17th to grab either the best OL or the best WR and use the 22nd to trade back and snag a few more picks. I still like Nick Toon due to the bloodlines but he will be available in the third.
Fred Dudley - January 28, 2012
Two of Martin, Decastro, Wright/Jeffery and Kirkpatrick(even though I am losing faith in him) would be a great start to a draft.
I would be happy with that, but I’d rather have RGIII if possible.
Horcasitas4 - January 29, 2012
My point of view is...
If the only knock on him is whether or not he can be the solution for more than a decade, then let’s cross that bridge when we get to it.
willster - January 28, 2012
We havn't had a solution that has lasted more than 3 years
So I don’t know what is wrong with one that could last 6-7
tman5 - January 28, 2012
Weeden is still going to have a learning curve
maybe like a year or 2 i just dont think it is worth it to rely on a guy that will be 29 year old Rookie, John Beck was in the same boat so i will pass
Highspeed30 - January 28, 2012
North looks more like Shannys offense.
Kevin Ewoldt - January 28, 2012 via mobile
Getting kind of excited watching Weeden operate our offense… Not gonna lie.
Brutus89 - January 28, 2012
Just gotta say, shout out to Michael Brewster, Mike Adams, Devier Posey, and Boom Herron, donning the silver helmets for the last time.
Brutus89 - January 28, 2012
and... the Burgundy and Gold one soon... at least RT Adams (this one's for you J Brown)
1x1an - January 28, 2012
Adams looks sharp
I thought he was strictly a right tackle but he has had an incredible game at LT. I hate Ohio State but I am liking Adams and Brewster. Go Blue!
Fred Dudley - January 28, 2012
You better check yoself…
Brutus89 - January 28, 2012
I would be fine with Weeden on our team
Being an OSU fan this would be ideal
Asmaki - January 28, 2012

not familiar with his receivers but that was a bad throw
ENsDad27 - January 28, 2012

ENsDad27 - January 28, 2012
woops haha
Asmaki - January 28, 2012
In his defense tho
he was getting hit by Curry just as he released it
ENsDad27 - January 28, 2012
yea he'll bounce back
he always does
Asmaki - January 28, 2012
nope threw another
squigums - January 28, 2012
It looks like they've installed the Rex Grossman package
The Shanaplan - January 28, 2012
Anyone have a change of heart after the Weeden performance?
positive or negative?
DavidDunn - January 28, 2012
I wouldn't put too much into it one way or the other.
Throwing 8 passes to unfamiliar receivers after a week of “practice” won’t change my opinion of him.

Remeber one thing
Before anyone falls in love with Weedon, Shanny hasn’t really seen what Tannehill can do. Sucks that he got hurt and couldn’t play. Foles has looked okay throwing to Criner.
Fred Dudley - January 28, 2012
Foles was better
Foles is still a work in progress but he clearly had the better statistical game. I think he is a better pick than Weeden and with the off season and some good coaching on his footwork he could be our long awaited franchise QB.
Lindley. 10 – 21 with 1 INT and 0 TD for 103 yards.
Weeden. 5 – 9 with 2 INT and 0 TD for 56 yards.
Foles. 11 – 15 with 0 INT and 1 TD for 136 yards.
Weeden also had more playing time than Foles. Weeden had the whole 1st Quarter and couldnt score and threw a INT. Then came back in in the 4th to try and bring the South back but insteads throws a horrible INT. Foles had a Quarter and drove the ball down well and put up the only TD to bring us within 1 score.
Foles does needs to work on his footwork and driving off his back foot instead of relying on his big arm but still did great.
squigums - January 28, 2012
you can't base playing time on quarter, it should be based on attempts
but this game is going to have little bearing on the process. Scouts and coaches really only look at it like it can help a player (say Foles) but it can’t hurt them, unless they appear lazy or if like Weeden went into a Phillip Rivers tirade on the sideline.
Steve Shoup - January 29, 2012
clarify the wording - Weeden did not go into a tirade, right?
You were saying, “if he had…”?
Donnio1234 - January 29, 2012
haha good catch
yeah he did not go into any tirade that I could see. And I did try to look at him. He seemed to try to show leadership on the sideline and talk to the QB coach.
Steve Shoup - January 29, 2012
my opinion aint change still a 4th rd prospect IMO
I just would not put my faith in a 29 year old rookie QB when the season start, and i have watched this guy crumble under pressure just like in todays game.
Highspeed30 - January 28, 2012
huh??
what are you talking about? and what previous games did he crumble?
Steve Shoup - January 29, 2012
when i say crumble the guy dont respond well to pressure
and make bad decisions, just dont see him being a top15 type of starter in the NFL
Highspeed30 - January 29, 2012
see i don't see that at all
I think he’s one of the smartest decision makers in the college game and does handle pressure well. This game should have really no bearing on his draft status. What he did this week vastly outweighs the 8 passes from yesterday.
Steve Shoup - January 29, 2012
i am not basing my thoughts on this game
I have seen him play during the year where he did not handle the pressure well, you can get away with that in college when you are winning by 21 points but that is not going to be the case in the NFL.
Highspeed30 - January 29, 2012
He really isn’t anything special. Think how fast he would have to grow into a elite passer and you realize he just isn’t worth a high pick. We are talking about a guy who has barely ever played under center. These draftniks just like him because he shows so much more maturity than the rest which is because of his upside limitation in the first place.
HogtieJim - January 29, 2012
Weeden looks good if we can not get RG3
Is RG3 going to be in the game ?
washingtonwin - January 28, 2012
RG3 is not a senior.
MagicHat - January 28, 2012
is this for real?
davetrembling - January 28, 2012
RGIII is a junior coming out early
Fred Dudley - January 28, 2012
Lindley
looks like garbage in practice but not that bad in the game
davetrembling - January 28, 2012
He's got a great arm
Fred Dudley - January 28, 2012
I expect Foles will impress once he takes the field.
Still want to see Tannehill, but no shot of that.
1. RGIII
2. RGIII
3. RGIII
4/5. Tannehill/Foles
6. Weeden
Copious 1 - January 28, 2012
Foles sucks!!!!
Too slow, slow delivery, not accurate
PeetyPab - January 28, 2012 via mobile
really is that why he threw the only TD and was 11-15 with only one sack
squigums - January 28, 2012
huh?
Steve Shoup - January 29, 2012
what ptowny said hahaha
squigums - January 29, 2012
oh i'm trying to figure out what sat.'s game has into any basis on his accuracy.
Steve Shoup - January 30, 2012
Seriously?
he was a 3 year starter with a 67% completion rate…how is that inaccurate?
too slow? are you comparing him to RG3? He is plenty mobile for quarterback, just don’t expect qb draws with him.
His delivery is fine too, definitely not as quick as kellen moore’s, but that’s because he’s almost 7-8 inches taller
ptowny - January 29, 2012
is the game on now?
what channel? i wanna watch it
munson21502 - January 28, 2012
nfl network
Asmaki - January 28, 2012
thank you asmaki
got to watch a little bit of the 3rd. then had to leave. got to see foles play a little bit. i wouldnt mind getting him if we miss rg3
munson21502 - January 29, 2012
Shanny is a poker player, he benched weeden after he threw a pic, so his stock doesn’t continue to rise, I like it, i’m very eager to see foles play
fraja926 - January 28, 2012
He is a poker player
Which is why who he is talking too and playing more says nothing about that he is thinking. I believe a read a story that he didn’t spend much time with Cutler before drafting him. With any other coach people would be reading too much into everyone he meets with/plays, for Shanahan…I think people are reading WAY too much into things.
Copious 1 - January 28, 2012
You are correct, he never even interviewed Cutler or flew him to Denver to show him around.
fraja926 - January 28, 2012
I think a better assessment would be to look at he he doesn't spend much time with.
Copious 1 - January 28, 2012
Which would be Foles
squigums - January 28, 2012
Exactly
Copious 1 - January 28, 2012 via Android app
Look at the only guy you haven’t seen Shanny talk about, RGIII, he’s our next QB. I think Parks has a good insight that we would go Claiborne if he was there at 6 but right now, I think Shanny is going to go for RGIII, then Casey Hayward in the third, and I also think we’ll pick Christ Rainey in the 4th.
fraja926 - January 29, 2012
he has talked plenty about RG3 he comes up in all the interviews. He never really talks about Foles they only time he has said Foles name was in listing the Senior bowl QBs
squigums - January 29, 2012
Shanahan - I still remember his first year - went all over the country watching QBs
then didn’t take any of them.
Donnio1234 - January 28, 2012
Mike certainly isn't trying to "hide" Weeden
There is so much coming – the combine, pro-days, all the films, etc. And I doubt Shanahan has even decided on the top choices yet. He wants to see as much of all the prospects as he can.
Donnio1234 - January 28, 2012
Kirk Cousins
He played in a pro-style offense at MSU correct?
2up2down - January 28, 2012 via mobile
yes
Steve Shoup - January 28, 2012
Sorry for the lack of comments the Wireless here is about as reliable as the Redskins offensive line
Steve Shoup - January 28, 2012
zing
.
HankMonahan - January 29, 2012
The North offensive line seems to be handling the South pass rush pretty well
willster - January 28, 2012
Mike Adams
Has been very, very impressive. I would love for us to be able to draft him.
Fred Dudley - January 28, 2012
he’s definatly the real deal at RT. can you imagine Adams at RT paired up with Trent? come on with it
fraja926 - January 29, 2012
he's had one of the best weeks down here
Steve Shoup - January 29, 2012
Isaiah Pead
impressed the most in special teams and running. I would love to get him in 3 rd.
Rodskins - January 28, 2012 via Android app
Russell wilson
performs well in any context. all you haters say he’s too small, just think he would be worth a pick at round 4 or 5. shabby wouldn’t spend 4 hrs if not possible. files looked good. weeden to old for me.
Rodskins - January 28, 2012 via Android app
I’d like him as a backup, I still don’t think he’s a starter.
Brutus89 - January 28, 2012
Hope this stops the Weedan train. He just isn’t anything special. He only looked better because this Qb crop at the senior bowl was quite bad. Weedan would have to get so much better so quickly that I just don’t see it happening.
Qb options that have a legitimate chance of not getting Shanny fired in 2 years are looking very limited.
HogtieJim - January 28, 2012
don't see how this should stop the Weeden train
he was by far the best QB down here even if you include yesterday’s game, I can’t stress enough the level of stock teams put into this game….zero
Steve Shoup - January 29, 2012
That’s the point. Being the best QB down here doesn’t mean much when the group was quite bad. He is only good in comparison.
HogtieJim - January 29, 2012
well Brandon Weeden is above Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert, Andy Dalton and probably Christian Ponder coming out.
Steve Shoup - January 30, 2012
i would guess Shanny puts some stock in those god-awful passes by Weeden.
DCrez - January 29, 2012
Best talent
Still can’t coach Mike Maylock told him if he lost the game it would be his coaching. So you see people, it really doesn’t matter who is available we need a better choice maker!
Monty Virgil - January 28, 2012
I know
we should draft a football player
HankMonahan - January 29, 2012
Senior Bowl
I thought all the QBs were underwhelming!
payload - January 29, 2012
Did Shanahan finally beat Frazier?
I don’t have NFL network.
mbedner - January 29, 2012
nope 0-3 now
Steve Shoup - January 29, 2012
It's hard to judge the QB's in this kind of game...
I’m still big on Foles, I thought he did pretty good considering his line collapsed when he came in, not to mention the multiple false starts…really killed his rhythem.
Weeden looked pretty poised, but he made a couple bad throws…hard to tell if the picks were due to route running or poor reads.
Wilson looked good, quick and accurate outside of the pocket. His height is going to kill his stock though
ptowny - January 29, 2012
QBs
Good points, however they were playing some pretty vanilla defensive schemes. The decision making was very suspect as well.
payload - January 29, 2012 via mobile
Weeden seriously???
Weeden isn’t a W1 starter. What would be the realistic cost for trading up to #2? Our #1 next year? Will it cost us our #2this year? That’s a lot but I’m all for it for a Qb of that stature. Weeden isn’t in RG3 league!!!
Chillz - January 29, 2012
its not that easy it is gonna be expensive to move up to #2 or #3 other teams will be fighting for thoughs spot so the price will go up as well
squigums - January 29, 2012
Then we are going to need
a RT, an interior lineman, a WR, some secondary help, and an ILB without many draft picks
