With the obvious understanding that the Redskins will not be picking a QB in the first round, the Redskins have a few options in the second and third for a signal-caller. If the Burgundy and Gold haven't secured that "Franchise" quarterback they need in the two previous rounds, the skill starts to drop off pretty drastically after the third.
There is more than one option, here. The third round is critical with the fourth and further being considered 'later rounds', and anybody that falls below third (usually) is more of a gamble.I can definitely see the Redskins using the first two rounds to address some deep holes in the secondary and on the offensive line. I think the third round will be the most important, as it will be where we get our future quarterback.
If, perhaps, the powers that be extend their hand and smack the Browns' front office in the mouth, allowing RGIII to fall far enough for the 'Skins to pick him up (Or basically any other QB in the first two rounds), I can see Shanny addressing a little more of the defense.
I present to you QB Nick Foles and CB Coryell Judie

Nick Foles, QB, Arizona: There are a lot of good things and bad things to say about Foles, but he's got one thing HUGE going for him: Time with the Shanahans. Foles got to spend some quality one-on-one with Mike and Kyle in this year's Senior Bowl. Watching the Senior Bowl, I was somewhat unimpressed, but seeing him play throughout the season was the kicker for me. He had some good throws while stationary, but was pretty crappy on the run. With Kyle's scheme holding quite a few boots, I would love to see him improve while on the move. But I won't be picky... Well, yes I will.I deserve to be, I'm a Redskins fan.
Coryell Judie, CB, Texas A&M: A track-star-turned-gridiron warrior, Judie could address some of the depth problems in the Redskins secondary. He's 5-11, 190 lbs, and obviously pretty fast. His biggest flag for scouts will be his questioned 'loyalty' to the game. His first time on the gridiron was his senior year in high school. Another kicker for the Redskins, is his time as a return man. I, for one, would love to see a different number returning kicks.

Hmmmm Coryell Judie
Shoulder surgery, hamstring strain, red-shirted during a camp. Doesn’t sound very healthy.
Also, by this time I doubt we have drafted a QB so I’ll go with Foles.

Will Foles last into the third?
I think we select him in the second.
Fred Dudley - January 31, 2012
No, selecting Foles in the second at 6th is a waste of a pick

Foles
IF available in the 3rd, you must take him for value…

is this the Grossman / Beck plan?
No QB in round 2 or 3? Sounds insane.

No, you didn't read the first round post.. or not well enough
These are the individual writer’s look at a specific round. We have no insight on who/what other writers are putting in their post.
Each post (1-7) contains two players the writers believe will be available, and gives you (the readers) a choice on the two. It addresses what we think the Redskins need in that round as well. For example UK (Round 4) and Tiller (Round 2) both used Dwight Bentley. UK obviously believes Bentley will fall to the 4th, and should be considered by the Redskins, while Tiller believes he should be looked at in the second.

In the post above
I put two options, one being a QB assuming we haven’t drafted one yet, and I think Foles will still be available due to his sub-par Senior Bowl performance. If the Redskins DO have a QB by then, Coryell Judie would be my pick.

In all fairness to Foles during the Senior Bowl...
His line seemed to collapse when he got in the game, not to mention they had multiple false starts which killed his rhythem.

This one is just really hard to answer if you don’t know what we did with QB (e.g. possiuble both a FA and draftee are done before 3rd round (and possible neither).
I like the dude who said take it for valeu though. If the guy is a 2nd rounder and is in 3rd, you just bring him in regardless, I guess.

With Dolphins and Seahawks looking for a QB as well I dont think Foles will last past the 2nd round. either one will take weeden and tannehill in the 2nd while we should take before them
squigums - January 31, 2012
*take Foles before them*

His performance at the Senior Bowl
could have hurt his stock. I think there’s a big possibility that he falls to 3rd. You have to remember that not EVERYBODY is going to draft a QB. Some of those teams will use FA (Maybe even the Redskins) to address it.

His proformance at the senior bowl was better than weedens and lindey
He showed yes he needs to work on his footwork but also that he is a game day performer. His OLine was constantly collapsing on him but he still showed poise under pressure and got the ball out there accurately (most of the time he needs work obviously) and that he can check down quickly. He showed the balls to take a hit while still delivering the ball and that he can move up in the pocket to extend the play. He also showed that he can move out the pocket not to run but to look down field and extend the play or make a play happen. His TD throw (only South QB to do so) showed that if plants his feet he is amazingly accurate and can put the ball anywhere.
Im not saying he is 1st round material but a 2nd rounder YES!!! more so than Weeden (28 years old and looked like he got crushed under pressure throwing 2 key INTS)

You're entitled to your opinion
I just can’t agree. I think Weeden and Foles’ performance throughout the year, coupled with their Senior Bowl performances, have Weeden going in the second, and Foles falling to the third.
Ronnie Adkins - January 31, 2012
well the week of the Senior Bowl carries quite a bit more weight
and Foles looked like a cross between Jason Campbell (on the first day) and Blaine Gabbert.
Weeden looked like a cross between Matt Schaub and Jay Cutler
Steve Shoup - January 31, 2012
he did struggle in practice and your right that does carry some weight now we just wait for the Combine
