Arizona State junior quarterback, Brock Osweiler has announced that he will declare for the 2012 NFL Draft. Osweiler is most known for his sheer height at 6'8, but the big guy became the first Arizona State quarterback to throw for over 4,000 yards this season. Osweiler also accounted for 26 of the Sun Devils touchdowns.
As a high school senior he chose to pursue the football rather then going to Gonzaga on a basketball scholarship. Arizona State was set to have a new head coach and possibly a new offensive coordinator, which helped push Osweiler to the draft. Osweiler will likely go in the 2nd or 3rd round at this point, but a lot can change in the evaluation period. He is a spread offense quarterback

6 freaking 8.
He’s one tall sum bitch.

I voiced concerns with Mallett's height and "chicken legs" last year
But this guy is built like a power forward. He’s thick and has a body that is more well suited to surviving in the NFL in my opinion.
Parks Smith - January 5, 2012
We still should have drafted the crackhead last year.
Tell me this guy smokes something and has a nice deep ball and I’m sold.

So glad we passed on the Arkansas Leprechaun
Parks Smith - January 5, 2012
I'm not.
Mallett was awesome.
Best passer of the class, but just not athletic.
He definitely wouldn’t underthrow like Rex.

Mallet = Brady any one?
Copious 1 - January 5, 2012 via Android app
He has a tremendous opportunity
Still not a fan of his delivery and decision making. I haven’t seen him in a year now either though.
Parks Smith - January 5, 2012
Dude would have floundered here, he's in the best possible situation he can be in now.
He was extremely immature and his legs would’ve been snapped with this line. Shanny would have eaten that crackhead alive if he had to actually play.

Tyler Wilson > Ryan Mallett
Brutus89 - January 5, 2012
Wilson Phillips > Ryan Mallett
Diesel44 - January 5, 2012
Wilson from Home Improvement… Not even close..
Brutus89 - January 5, 2012
You mean the band?
The Chynna Phillips was so hot. I wanted to bang her back in the day.
64ShagginWagon - January 5, 2012
Ehh I can't lie. I still do
64ShagginWagon - January 5, 2012
I'd hit that like the angry fist of Tebow's dad.
Diesel44 - January 5, 2012
seriously this should win comment of the day
Steve Shoup - January 5, 2012
Tyler Wilson
CJHutch - January 6, 2012 via mobile
I watched a handful of his games this year and he is extemely raw.
But even with his height he has decent mobility and is an above average athlete. I could see him landing in the 2nd teir of QBs like Foles and ahead of guys like Kirk Cousins. 2-3rd RD.
Diesel44 - January 5, 2012
agree he def. needs to sit, but there is some nice upside there
Steve Shoup - January 5, 2012
thats the same thing that girl said about big ben.....
munson21502 - January 6, 2012
he's a very interesting but raw prospect
I feel bad for him, with the coaching change not being too favorable and then Barkley and Jones going back to school.
Steve Shoup - January 5, 2012
Maybe no benefit of the all-star games either, unless he goes to the one in LA
Parks Smith - January 5, 2012
yeah that def. won't help him
but i don’t think he had much of a choice, as he probably didn’t want to play for Todd Graham (not that anyone should blame him).
Steve Shoup - January 5, 2012
There was some talk of him graduating and transferring to UCLA to play right away
I’m guessing ASU wouldn’t release him
Parks Smith - January 5, 2012
makes sense, isn't his OC going to UCLA?
yeah no way Graham would care about anyone but himself. I can’t believe ASU even wanted him. Hopefully some coaching staff is patient with him and lets him develop.
off topic: Do you think with Jones going back to school, Allen might transfer to an FCS school? It seems to make sense.
Steve Shoup - January 5, 2012
I'd be interested to see if he'd be interested in playing at UTSA under Larry Coker, back in his hometown.
I have no idea what their QB situation is like though.
Or maybe he’ll want to go to a FCS school on the East Coast with a former Big 12 coach, hmmm? haha
Parks Smith - January 6, 2012
haha or maybe one that has won a National Championship like JMU
Steve Shoup - January 6, 2012
JMU's drug addict QB still has another year left, so I doubt that would be a fit.
I’m still befuddled that people here in Richmond think Aaron Corp is a draft prospect
Parks Smith - January 6, 2012
Or maybe an Up-And-Comer like ODU?
BillWard - January 6, 2012
They don't have a QB leaving, wouldn't make sense
Parks Smith - January 6, 2012
yeah, he seems to have been screwed by the coaching change
aFan4Life - January 6, 2012
I haven’t followed this guy at all this season, nor heard much of him in general. I’m surprised he’s getting a 2nd or 3rd round grade if his NFL eligibility has been kind of under the radar.
Neither National Football Post or Walterfootball have him ranked as a top 20 QB prospect, and they are including juniors. Maybe he’ll fly up the boards, but I donno about taking him in the top 3 rounds. His junior year was a good one, minus those pickles.
Brutus89 - January 5, 2012
looks kinda raw like a Tannehill, who I like. He only has one starting season under his belt
Brutus89 - January 5, 2012
It's what the NFL Advisory Committee told him today
Parks Smith - January 5, 2012
Watching some video on him now, looks and sounds like Rocky Balboa, plus he couldn’t beat out Steven Threet. May be a LITTLE risky. Played well against USC, but had some stinkers against some real turds.

Brutus89 - January 5, 2012
His supporting cast wasn't too great
The only game that he had that was really bad this year was against Illinois
Parks Smith - January 5, 2012
If I had my pick of two raw QBs, I think I’d still go with Tannehill, though he did have a decent supporting cast in that offense.
Brutus89 - January 5, 2012
I would too, at this point
Parks Smith - January 5, 2012
dude he had the guy with the hottest sister in the world as one of his receivers what do you mean his supporting cast wasn't great??
Steve Shoup - January 5, 2012
got me....
“Aaron, who is your quarterback? He’s so tall…”
“SHUT UP AMANDA”
Parks Smith - January 5, 2012
haha
couldn’t have been easy for him, every interview probably wants to ask about his sister.
side note, I am a fan of Gerrell Robinson their top receiver, 6’4" or 6’5" really impressed me the 3 or 4 times i watched ASU. He could be a nice late round option.
Steve Shoup - January 5, 2012
His best reciever is like 5'4
SkinsaneAsylum - January 6, 2012
5'4 receivers don't usually make it in the D1
Parks Smith - January 6, 2012
exactly, which equals a poor supporting cast
and okay i exagerated, the kid is 5’8
SkinsaneAsylum - January 6, 2012
haha Plufgrad is small
but Robinson was the leading receiver and he’s 6’4"
Steve Shoup - January 6, 2012
just to clarify NFP only includes juniors once they declare (with the exception of Luck whom they pretty much had there all year)
but yeah no one really saw him as one to declare even late in the season. But with two of the more hyped QB’s going back, and a coaching change I don’t blame him. If a team wants a raw but really good upside prospect he makes some sense in the 3rd round.
Steve Shoup - January 5, 2012
damn if only vince mcmann bought the redskins instead of snyder...
he would draft this guy and change his name to the giant Osweiler!! he say he was 8 feet tall and say he dont even need a o-line
munson21502 - January 6, 2012
im sold on Ostreicher!!
also solid lacrosse player and member of the choir…
thatdudepete - January 6, 2012
hot girlfriend also
Parks Smith - January 6, 2012
if he is a laxer, like Royster, he is OK in my book
SkinsaneAsylum - January 6, 2012
