Redskins world, I'm sorry, but I understand we need something to really excite our fan base again, and some1 like RG3 would do that, but I'm generally worried in giving up the amount of draft picks, for some1 that is basically unproven. With our luck as Redskins fans it wouldn't pan out.. I honestly was annoyed when we didn't address the situation last year, last year I believe was the year we should of addressed it because of the talent that slipped late. Allen and Shanny seem to have a system right now thats working with drafting players, and gaining depth. I know alot of you are going to disagree with me, but it's how I feel. I hope I'm wrong, I really do, if they wind up drafting RG3, then I hope he lights up the field, but as of now, it just makes me nervous, I don't want to see our team get set back, yet once again.

all I can say to calm your concerns is...
this is finally a NFL FO. The combination of Bruce Allen / Mike Shanahan will pay dividends. This team is being run by competent people now, and we need to trust their decisions….

Agree with you 100%
I dont think we agree on trading up for rgiii, but I do have faith in shanny and allen, and they decide to do that, ill trust that they have a solid plan in place

If ShanAllen decides to go in another direction...
like you, I will support whatever direction that will be (not that either of us has any real choice).

did you wish we had drafted gabbert when he fell to us?
I sure don’t.
orakpophobia - February 14, 2012
me neither...
and I’m not sure of all the “talent that slipped late” that 2160 referred to. I thought it was one of the worst drafts for any team looking for QB position.
jgibbsfan1 - February 14, 2012
I don't think it was that bad...
I think Newton, Gabbert, Locker, Dalton and Ponder will all start for their respective teams this year and at least the next 4-5 years
ptowny - February 14, 2012
Gabbert is a huge quesiton.
Newton- certain.
Dalton-certain
Ponder-extremely likely.
Locker- likely.
Gabbert-doubtful.
Gabbert played awful last season, and teams aren’t bound to their top QB’s in the new CBA. They could be a team to go after a free agent QB this year. Who knows.

why so scared
its not like we will end up like the jets locked into a huge 6 year contract with a below average qb. if we trade up were not giving up 3 first for a guy we can only sign for 4 years. and if he sucks after 3 years we can draft someone else to replace him this wont be a alex smith situation where we would wait 6 years for a guy to develop. we as a franchise have never drafted a top qb since danny took over yet we addressed the position in every other way. I am scared of signing matt flynn to a huge deal and passing on a qb

I 2 am torn
But I am Comforted 4 the fact some1 else use #’s and symbols like me to save time.
Just messing with you man. I’m in the same boat, In Shanny I trust and I really hope he likes RGIII as much as I do.

I was going to say the same thing.
You shaved off four characters by typing some1 twice instead of someone. What did you do with those extra .047 seconds? I would have traveled the world, went sightseeing.

RG3 is the way to go.
We do not want to get flynn and the reason for that is he is going to want a huge contract and he is a unproven QB , he might have looked good in greenbay but look at there team , they have a great offense with a lot of good recievers and if flynn came here we are stuck with a huge ass contract which we can not get rid of verses if we get RG3 he gets the rookie scale contract and if he sucks we can part ways with him instead of paying a huge contract like to flynn for over 60 million dollors because you know flynn is going to want a contract like cassell got .
So i think old shanny/ allen will go with RG3 because it will be cheaper and 2nd he is way better than flynn by far .
We are all worried i guess because the way this team has been runned into the ground by vinny and synder and it was going to take about a good 4 years to straighten this team up after vinny and synder screwed this team up the way they did .
But it looks like synder has taken his head out of his ass and fianally came to his senses that he needed a good coach and to let him do his job without the medaling from synder and now look how this team is coming along .
Give shanny this year and next and we will be having a very good team for a long time to come and by getting RG3 he will set this team on fire and we will be winning after we pick him in the draft and you can take this to the bank .

You can't just look at RG3 vs. Flynn in terms of financials.
You have to think getting RG3 means giving up 3 or 4 draft picks at reasonable prices. And those 3 or 4 picks are going to be replaced with less affordable FAs, so RG3 could actually turn out to be more costly if you look at the big picture.
Parks Smith - February 14, 2012
That might be true.
But i would rather take my chance on RG3 before i would on flynn , so ask yourself which would you rather have to help this team ? Id rather risk RG3 over flynn any day , id like to know what has flynn done other then play in a few games and got a few decent numbers up right . Well look at our line verses greenbays line ? u cant even compare the 2 , if flynne came here he would get killed verses you get RG3 at least we would have a fighting chance with his ability to scramble if need to be right. . I think we can all say that we want 1 thing and thats a very good QB to lead our team and i think our best option is to try and get RG3 to lead us , he gives us that extra threat of running the ball to take the preasure off our recievers to get open which flynn cant do that well .
If we do get RG3 i will say we will be on our way to getting into the playoffs and finially going back to the super bowl , we might not make the super bowl right off the bat but give RG3 3 to 5 years under his belt and i bet we will finially be getting somewhere .
washingtonwin - February 14, 2012
Yea usually the logical step after the Alamo Bowl is the Super Bowl, you sold me

An analysis on HH broke down Flynn's one big game
and showed that it wasn’t that great – many throws behind the receiver, near interceptions, etc. And Matt was not touted that much out of college, including not being that accurate. In effect, he has not really done much. You might take him as a backup, or a possible starter, at a modest salary, but should not throw a large amount of money at him.
Another problem is tactical – Flynn at big money would be like “all in” (same as for RG3). I.e., we would not get any other QB. With Manning, Orton, Garrard, etc, it seems highly likely that the Skins would draft a second tier guy – like Tannehill, Foles or Weeden. In effect, the vet would be sort of a placeholder till the new guy was ready. Of course, Manning would be an awesome placeholder, hopefully for three years (a little tough on Tannehill, but he might get some time due to injury). But Flynn or RG3 would be the young guy, so the Skins would likely stick with a traditional backup, like Rex or Beck.
