Any doubts Jason La Canfora talks out his ass most of time when it comes to the Redskins, and my guess other teams as well…
Cooley a cap casulaty—Very doubtful! as the writer clearly explains
dr WNC - February 17, 2012
He had our 2011 free agent targets dead on though...
Regardless, I doubt Cooley is let go.
mbedner - February 17, 2012
Im sure Cooley is back.
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
What?
Jenkins? And:
So the Redskins kept Moss and signed Cofield, yeah he nailed 2011…or did I miss the others being signed and the Redskins spending big time
And on Haynesworth?
OOPS that didn’t happen either, he can report what happens but any speculation on his point is typically invalid or down right wrong…dr WNC - February 17, 2012
God, I'm glad McShay is not the Browns
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
Finally, someone making some sense about Riley Reiff - and guess who it is................Everyone's favorite Mike Mayock
Funny, some on HH consider this guy the only one they listen to for info on prospects. Well, listen to him on this one.
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
That is the only true disappointment possible with the #6 pick.
Anything else is feasible, but Reiff? That’s a terrible idea.
Copious 1 - February 17, 2012 via Android app
I agree
now, if we moved back, and selected him in the late teens, early 20’s, I wouldn’t have as much of a problem with it.
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
Why do you think its a terrible idea?
Parks Smith - February 17, 2012
Because Mike Mayock said so
Duh
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
Players with a much greater impact will be available at 6.
Plus, you could trade back. Reiff is a mid 1st round pick. #6 is a reach.
Jeff…. I’m probably just as knowledgeable as you. Relax
Copious 1 - February 17, 2012 via Android app
I'm relaxed. I don't know anything about lineman. Just like everybody else on here.
Nobody here(that i know of) has access to game film so i am not sure where all of the “expert” commenters are getting their info about these lineman. Its not like the camera is focused on the line so how is it that everyone is so certain Reiff, or any other lineman for that matter, is a #5 pick vs a #15 pick. Seems to me to really be able to scout a lineman you would have to watch them on nearly every play to determine footwork, hand placement, strength, speed and all the variables that go into making a lineman good or not.
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
Mine is not an expert evaluation.
He’s a left tackle. We have one. So he would play right. IMO in the top 10 you draft an impact player. RT its not an impact position.
Copious 1 - February 17, 2012 via Android app
Really? So there wasn't an "impact" when Jammal Brown gave up sack after sack?
I’m pretty sure the entire line is full of “impact players”. The reason people say you don’t draft non LT that high is because of the old salary structure. You didn’t pay the rest of the line the kind of money that top 10 picks used to command. Those days are over now but everyone is still stuck in the old CBA mentality. I would probably take every position with the #6 pick, if i truly believed they were elite, except kicker. Hell i would even take Vinateri with #6 pick(assuming you knew they were that good). If we had a top 3 kicker last year we would probably have made the playoffs or at least been contending at the end for the wildcard.
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
Follow me please.
Good thing I’m not “people.” I say it not because of any money, but because of value for the pick. Claiborne and Blackmon are two possibles at #6 that would be significantly more valuable. Then…trading down present great value as well as the next order of business. Taking Reiff? That’s a distant option IMO. And since it is MY OPINION, I feel it would be a terrible pick at #6. That is a terrible idea IN MY OPINION.
Copious 1 - February 17, 2012
*presents
Copious 1 - February 17, 2012
Let me help you guys
Reiff is a good prospect, not a great one. He’s way overvalued at #6, and he remains way overvalued in this draft because there is but one elite OT, and that is Kalil. There are many teams out there in need of a starting LT, so with Kalil gone early, Reiff would be the next choice – the ole supply vs demand.
For the Redskins, he’s not a good fit. He is a LT prospect, and we have a LT. People are saying we could move TW to the right side, but that is just stupid, and very unfair to TW. For one, TW has much better feet than Reiff, and is much more adapt at handling the spped rush on the outside. IMO, TW has everything you look for in a ZBS LT, and there is no reason to move the kid; especially for a rookie with less overall talent for the position.
This is why I, and many others, say Reiff is not a good pick for us at #6
Tiller56 - February 18, 2012
Tiller
You aren’t helping me out as i have never said take or don’t take Reiff because i don’t know anything about lineman. All i am saying is if you NEED a RT and a RT is available who is elite you take him. This is a general statement it has nothing to do with the Skins or Reiff.
Jeff Bernard - February 18, 2012
You are the one having trouble following.
I never said take Reiff over Blackmon or Claiborne. You said
I was simply pointing out that RT is an impact position. If you think he is elite. Like i’ve said on numbers occasions i know nothing about lineman. I am not commenting on Reiff as a prospect nor am i suggesting we take him over anybody. I am simply stating if you need a RT and there is a RT on the board who is the best available you take him. You don’t seem to understand that i am only speaking about what you said about RT being an impact position and not taking a RT in the top 10.
Jeff Bernard - February 18, 2012
Go through draft history (I did it last year)
It has never happened in the top 10, and it never will. You draft a franchise game changer that high or a LT to protect your most valuable asset. If there is a RT that was drafted that high, he was drafted to be a LT. So…as I have done already, look throughout draft history for yourself. It has and will NEVER happen.
Copious 1 - February 18, 2012 via Android app
what does that have to do with anything that i said.
again, you are having a hard time understanding what i am saying. I said IF you need a RT and IF a RT who is elite is available you take him. I never said RTs have been drafted in the top 10. I never said we should draft Reiff. I never said RT was more important than LT. When debating someone it is easier to just stick to the point instead of constantly introducing more and more information that has little to do with the original argument.
Jeff Bernard - February 18, 2012
Point is...
That position, even if you have need, even if the talent is available, does not get drafted that high. Do you honestly believe that no team picking in the top 10 had never had a supreme need at right tackle? If you are picking that high you have so many other needs than RT, which is why it has never happened.
Copious 1 - February 18, 2012 via Android app
'Really? So there wasn't an "impact" when Jammal Brown gave up sack after sack?'
Jeff Bernard,
Is there any chance you are about the same height and build as The Danny?
The movie “Dave” has given me an idea…
Belly Kilmer - February 18, 2012
Maybe. But drafting BPA every year is how you get to where we are.
Lots of first rounders devoted to defense (which has been good for most of a decade)
few first rounders on offense (which has been bad for a decade)
smutsboy1 - February 17, 2012
This also from Mayock:
For the “draft Linemen” crowd, Reiff is a LT prospect(which we dod not need), and #6 is way to high for a guy who should be around pick 15-20.
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
This also from Mayock
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
Don't know what this has to do with Reiff
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
I think he is just proving that he can quote Mayock too.
mbedner - February 17, 2012
It has to do with you using Mayock's words as some sort of definitive proof.
So i assume you agree that Tannehill has “everything you want” and that Reggie Bush was a once in a lifetime player, and McCoy was better than Suh. Or are you just picking and choosing Mayock’s words that fit your narrative?
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
You do realize that this was in an article HTTR posted in this "slop" right?
That’s why I posted a response to it. It was not about Tannehill.
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
It has nothing to do with Tannehill. It has to do with you using Mayock as if he is the Oracle at Delphi
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
Your just wrong
I don’t view Mayock like that at all……………..some others on here do though.
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
I guess you missed this
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
I did, and when you above comment came up i scrolled up and saw it.
You were actually using his words against others who use his word. I apologize. Can we hug?
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
It's all good
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
Haha
mayock also said Tannehill is a 2nd round prospect
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
not in the article i got that quote from
He said he would be a mid first rounder. I didn’t check the date.
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
He recently said
that Tann should be a 2nd round guy, but could go in the 1st because of supply vs demand.
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
IE Ponder and other QBs who move up in the draft
As stated, only only two QBs going in the first round is not going to happen
dr WNC - February 17, 2012
When you have nearly $50 mil in cap room, is their really a need for a cap "casualty"?
Parks Smith - February 17, 2012
we're going to burn up a lot of that cap space signing Bowe and Carr!
OK, let me have my dream for a while…
aFan4Life - February 17, 2012
Plus Grubbs and Meyers
gotta help the OL out a little too
aFan4Life - February 17, 2012
And build a Dream Team
dr WNC - February 17, 2012
every team uses FA, wake up it's 2012
signing maybe 4 guys is hardly a dream team. Nice failure on your part though.
aFan4Life - February 17, 2012
not all usage of free agency is equal
there are many, many FA strategies
smutsboy1 - February 17, 2012
no really captain obvious?
If Shanahan hadn’t been signing FA OL as I’ve suggested we’d really be hurting so why is signing real quality players a worse idea than signing journeyman like Litch or injured players like Brown? Tell me how that was a better strategy?
aFan4Life - February 17, 2012
if you can't see why some people wouldn't want to sign 4 of the best free agents on the market, you haven't been watching the Redskins for the past 10 years
smutsboy1 - February 19, 2012
Thanks Vinny
Parks Smith - February 17, 2012
as if you haven't proposed sign FAs
Piss poor comment Parks.
aFan4Life - February 17, 2012
Big name, expensive, overrated wide receivers? I haven't proposed that at all.
Parks Smith - February 17, 2012
Bowe is not over rated
He’s done great work while working with crappy QBs. At best Cassel is average yet Bowe led the league in receptions so how is that overrated?
Will he be expensive? Probably but he’s also a known quantity unlike drafting a rookie when drafting is just a shot in the dark.
I’d much rather sign Bowe than draft a WR with the #6 pick.
aFan4Life - February 17, 2012
I dont' know much about Bowe because i've seen about 1 KC game in my life but...
I do know the history of big name FA wideouts is not very good. TO and Moss(1 season with the greatest QB of all time) are the only two that come to mind right now.
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
Why Carr?
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
for me...
he is younger, bigger and better than D. Hall…
jgibbsfan1 - February 17, 2012
My sense is that he will be franchised.
mbedner - February 17, 2012
and they sign Bowe?
rumor is that they will franchise Bowe.
aFan4Life - February 17, 2012
Is it a true need though?
DHall is not that old.
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
not an immediate need...
but put it this way, if you could get someone younger and better for a lower salary cap hit, wouldn’t it be worth taking a look?
jgibbsfan1 - February 17, 2012
I guess
but what would be the cap hit for cutting Hall?
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
I believe Steve has stated before...
$600,000 (or something close to that), whereas we could save $6 mil by cutting him. So, with a structured contract for Carr, we might get the cap hit to be lower than the 6…
jgibbsfan1 - February 17, 2012
he is a much better CB than Hall....by far
aFan4Life - February 17, 2012
IDK guys
I have nothing against him, or Hall. I guess I just don’t see QB as a big need right now
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
Agreed.
Parks, I was thinking just that said when I read it too.
preppiejack - February 17, 2012
Can you ever really have "too much" cap room when our roster is this crappy?
Well, on the offense at least…
mbedner - February 17, 2012
No I agree and Cooley is certainly a candidate for restructuring, but a cap casualty...? come on
Parks Smith - February 17, 2012
No, I agree, Cooley stays.
He’s even said as much with Lavar and Dukes. Apparently, he and Shanahan have already talked and it was made clear they had no intention of moving Cooley.
mbedner - February 17, 2012
Well that's nice, but he has essentially no trade value
Parks Smith - February 17, 2012
Yep. a gimpy 30 year old Chris Cooley unfortunately has no value outside of Redskins Park
mbedner - February 17, 2012
let's be honest, he doesn't have much value here either. at this point he is a solid backup
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
what?
two years ago he had perhaps the best season of his career, yardage wise.
jesus people’s memories are short.
smutsboy1 - February 19, 2012
I asked Cooley if the Skins were going to restructure him this past fall. He laughed and said ‘No way.’ I’m only costing the team $4mil a year.
Kevin Ewoldt - February 17, 2012

That Madden Curse is the real deal man...
I’m not a superstitious person by nature, but he has a great season, then Madden Cover, and the plop. If Richardson really is the next Adrian then I could see them swinging that direction. In which case we could be in a prime spot for number 2.
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
Drew Brees was pretty good after his post-Madden cover year
I mean, they lost to the seahawks in the first round, but it was still a decent year.
mbedner - February 17, 2012
But he was hurt w/ nagging injurt most of the year
Parks Smith - February 17, 2012
True, but not the devastating injury or step back that everyone seems to thing Madden players have
I think everything is coincidental
mbedner - February 17, 2012
I wonder if these madden cover players ever mention things like...
waking up the day after madden releases to a voice whispering “Boom….tough actin’ tenactin’” ??
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
hahahaha
+1
mbedner - February 17, 2012
Interesting that the Browns are having internal debates about Richardson/Hillis
If I were them I’d take Richardson and let Hillis walk. Richardson could be a game changer for them, and I still wonder how well Griffin would fit in a more traditional west coast offense like they run in Cleveland.
atark001 - February 17, 2012
Colt McCoy is back to 100% as well.
Kevin Ewoldt - February 17, 2012
So he's now at the same level as Chad Pennington?
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
recd
smutsboy1 - February 17, 2012
I really feel the Browns will bring in veteran competition at the QB position
atark001 - February 17, 2012
Jason Campbell has been rumored.
mbedner - February 17, 2012
That would be interesting.
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
But Jason is not a T-formation QB. That is the likely reason Shanahan did not keep him.
Jefferson1935 - February 17, 2012
I also agree.
I still think some agree that McCoy needs weapons and a chance. Though I don’t follow the Browns too heavily. Will this FA and draft though haha
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
haha I know right, I'm going to be focused on a few teams come March 13th
atark001 - February 17, 2012
Im scanning their SB nation team site along with Miami every day to try and get an idea of the fanbase and general thoughts and opinions.
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
that's a good idea, gonna start doing that as well
plus its a source to get the info on the “insider” gossip for each team
atark001 - February 17, 2012
Yeah its just nice to get an idea of what hardcore fans are thinking on their end, much like HH for the Skins.
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
They are the same as us.
1/2 want to trade up, the other 1/2 want to trade down.
ipitydafu - February 17, 2012
They are nothing like us...
read the conversation on most of those other sites…
Hogshaven seriously has some of the most educated fans on all of SB Nation
ptowny - February 17, 2012
He is the problem. If you guys think RG3 is god's gift to quarterbacking...
Then why the hell would the Browns be content with Colt Frickin’ McCoy? If the Skins had McCoy and were drafting 4th would you say “he just needs some weapons and a chance”?
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
Possibly, but we arent in that situation.
Our current starter has tapped out at the highest level he is ever going to reach.
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
As do I
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
I don't think Hillis wants to be there, so they may be wasting their time
Parks Smith - February 17, 2012
and I wonder how much his teammate want him back as well
considering the internal player meetings they had during the year
atark001 - February 17, 2012
Internal meetings?
what was discussed at these meetings?
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
about his attitude/contract squabble throughout the year

atark001 - February 17, 2012
ew yeah no one likes playing with a dude with funk.
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
Honest question:
Does anyone want to be a Cleveland Brown?
mbedner - February 17, 2012
... I like the color orange, but no.... just no.
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
They will be on the rise
but that damn division is a bear.
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
Luckily, the Steelers and Ravens are old teams
They will have to rebuild right as the Browns are hitting their stride.
mbedner - February 17, 2012
very true
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
Gonna be nice when they have to rebuild and
then I can go into a Walmart and the whole jersey section is burgundy and gold rather than Purple and black and yellow.
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
Hahaha... I agree. Aside from NFC East teams, the Ravens are my most hated team
mbedner - February 17, 2012
I just want to be able to buy a cheaper made jersey that isnt McNabb.
Its been two years! burn the freaking things haha.
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
It is worth buying won just to mark the point where the redskins truly hit rock bottom
mbedner - February 17, 2012
won=one
mbedner - February 17, 2012
Yeah except Boscovs still wants $50 for it haha.
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
It's so much harder finding a jersey here in Denver
ipitydafu - February 17, 2012
aw man I bet.
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
Is Richardson worth the 4th pick though?
I like him, but now a days, is any RB worth going that high?
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
If he really is the second coming of Peterson
then I would say yes. Sure you can draft a RB in the lower rounds that can get you a 1,000 yards for a few years, but when it comes to a RB like Peterson who can just dominate a game even with 8 men in the box, I’d say draft him that high. But again, he’d have to be an elite talent.
atark001 - February 17, 2012
He has great power and vision
balance too, but I’d expect him to be a low 4.5 guy, where Peterson was a 4.38 guy.
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
ahhh, yea, I mean I don't know much about Richardson
but the few games I saw him play in college, I liked what I saw…he’s got the beast mode mentality. I think he’d fit the culture of Cleveland too with his running style (although that’s not a reason to draft a player I guess)
atark001 - February 17, 2012
When you have 2 first round picks…I’d pull the trigger on him.
Kevin Ewoldt - February 17, 2012
that's a good point as well, didn't think of that
gives them more latitude in their draft strategy
atark001 - February 17, 2012
I've read that the Browns really like Matt Barkley.
I wonder if they might try and trade their second first rounder for another first and additional picks next year in an effort to move up and acquire him… Though, God knows they won’t have to move up much to make it to #1 overall.
mbedner - February 17, 2012
Based on what I read I think thats a possibility.
Their fan-base seems to be split much like our on the topic of trading up for RG3, much like us here. Some want to replace McCoy and some want to look into FA. I think Hillis def weighs heavily on their thinking this year. And unless I’m mistaken, if they pursue towards Richardson, the demand for RG3 drops and maybe the price (which is probably over inflated currently anyways) and then our only competition is Miami, barring any surprises from other QB hungry teams.
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
You prob right Kev
maybe target WR later on in the 1st
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
You thinking WR with that 2nd pick Kev?……….maybe Floyd(if he drops a little), or Jeffery/Wright?
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
I can see that. That would immediately improve their team.
Who knows if it happens. I wish I could be a fly on the wall in those Brown meetings. Whatever they do really dictates our draft, unfortunately.
mbedner - February 17, 2012
I haven’t heard good things about Floyd, so yea, I’m thinking CLE will pick him.
Kevin Ewoldt - February 17, 2012
I am hearing they want DE with their 2nd 1st Mercilus
Highspeed30 - February 17, 2012
If Im the Browns Im spending a pick on Richardson, with Hillis gone.
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
I'll say it for the 3,694th time.
we’re trading up for RG3. Reiff? That’s absurd. Claiborne? Retarded.
We’re going QB.
iH8dallas - February 17, 2012
haha
Reiff is absurd
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
Hopefully you don't also agree that drafting the #1 corner in the draft at #6 is "retarded"
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
Hi Jeff. Nobody likes you.
iH8dallas - February 17, 2012
I like Jeff.
mbedner - February 17, 2012
Nobody likes me but nobody respects your opinion. I'm happy with what i got. Are you?
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
I like you Jeff.
mbedner - February 17, 2012
my mom does also! Can i get a 3rd?
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
Papa Nard-dog seems like a real jerk if he doesn't like you.
mbedner - February 17, 2012
What are we 5?
You both have different opinions. You’re trying to one up each other on a blog?
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
trying?
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
I'm a dude. On a message board. Who has a picture of myself playing harmonica.
I don’t expect you to “respect” my football opinion.
iH8dallas - February 17, 2012
Harmonica's Rule!
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
What if I don't respect you as a person?
Does that change anything?
mbedner - February 17, 2012
I suppose not.
iH8dallas - February 17, 2012
I'm kidding iH8
I like you too
mbedner - February 17, 2012
Friday Hug-A-Thon!
iH8dallas - February 17, 2012
One room's not enough for you iH8.
Go get some rooms.
horatius - February 17, 2012
I'm in a good mood today because the snow is coming so lets bury the hatchet.
Redskins fans should only fight about whether Tony Romo is terrible or the worst.
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
Snow? Coming to DC?
When is that supposed to happen?
mbedner - February 17, 2012
Sunday snow storm. Might get 10 inches here in lovely Charlottesville.
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
That's what she said.
iH8dallas - February 17, 2012
I agree -Hugs-
iH8dallas - February 17, 2012
Romo really is horrible.
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
no, not really against Claiborne
just don’t think he’s a major need
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
A friend and I were joking about RG3...
the other day and our rational behind drafting him is that if for some reason we draft him as a QB and he fails, then just teach him to catch and let him fill a WR spot haha. Dude is fast.
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
Isn't that more of a reason to draft Tennehill instead?
Fall back later in the first, acquire more picks, and draft Tannehill as your QB with the knowledge that he could be moved to WR is he is a bust?
mbedner - February 17, 2012
I know he's young and will heal..
But I just keep replaying the Joe Theisman leg snap in my head. Also I think Tannehill will need more time behind a starter to learn the ropes. Not being able to evaluate him at the combine annoys me. And I think over all its time that this team got behind a good young draft prospect that can carry this team possibly for 10 years.
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
Dude is 4.6 fast
which is not that fast for a WR
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
yeah it was basically all joking haha
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
RG3 is 4.6?
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
Kinda makes you wonder how he thinks he can be an Olympic athlete with those numbers.
mbedner - February 17, 2012
He can probably run 40 yards in 4.6sec
while jumping hurdles, too.
CarverM - February 17, 2012
You'll find out next week
Parks Smith - February 17, 2012
Is he going to run the 40? I wouldn't think so.
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
he is projected top 5, running the 40 seems like it can only hurt him
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
Yeah i wonder too
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
I don't think it would hurt him.
4.4, 4.5 is fast for a QB. Really fast.
iH8dallas - February 17, 2012
Def faster than Rex, Peyton, Flynn, and probably tannehill
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
B/c straightline speed is something you usually look for in a QB, hence Woodrow Dantzler's high draft status
Parks Smith - February 17, 2012
it would hurt him if he ran a bad time. If he ran a 4.1 he still wouldn't go #1 so the risk/reward ratio isn't compelling enough to run
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
I don't understand how it would hurt him. If he runs a 4.6 is he really dropping in the draft?
It’s pretty irrelevant in my opinion
Parks Smith - February 17, 2012
you are missing the point. how does it help him. what are the benefits?
He is going top 5, running the 40 cannot raise his draft status. It can only hurt him, although you are correct it cannot hurt him that much. But there is zero benefit to him running.
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
I'm not missing the point, as I said its pretty irrelevant
It can’t help him and can’t hurt him, in my opinion.
Parks Smith - February 17, 2012
Right, so why would he run?
Pretty sure the chances of injury are greater running the 40 than not running the 40. There is ZERO benefit to him running.
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
I want him to run, just so I can see his hair flow in the wind.
Like a chocolate knight in shorts, coming to save the Redskins (in slow motion.)
iH8dallas - February 17, 2012
Well that depends on what he'll be doing instead of running the 40.
He could be spear fishing in the Caribbean
Parks Smith - February 17, 2012
I assumed he would still be at the combine standing around in tight shorts with IH8 undressing him with his eyes
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
Racist
Sorry i don’t have the sarcasm font on my computer
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
Man I cant wait....
so tired of football down time.
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
No, my fault
I though they were talking Tannehill.
RG is prob a high 4.4 guy
Tiller56 - February 17, 2012
RG3's projected time is 4.52
Parks Smith - February 17, 2012
I don't know how accurate projected times are but if that is close to accurate then can we please retire the Vick comparisons
Vick allegedly has run between 4.2 and 4.35.
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
Vick didn't run at the combine, but Quincy Carter ran a 4.55, maybe RG3 is the next Quincy Carter!
Parks Smith - February 17, 2012
Yeah Vick didn't run for the same reason RG3 won't run.
He was clocked at 4.33 at VT and allegedly ran a 4.2? at a rookie mini camp
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
Man, a 4.2?
That is the same speed I allegedly run…
mbedner - February 17, 2012
that is what they say
That is Darrell Green, Deion and Bo Jackson speed.
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
on a side note Bo Jackson is the greatest running back every to live.
I am actually old enough to have watched him play and the man was a freak of nature. Look at the size of Vick, Green and Deion and then look at Bo. Ridiculous.
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
Barry Sanders IMO.
iH8dallas - February 17, 2012
I love Barry Sanders but Bo was an absolute freak
Check this run at 54 seconds.

Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
reminds me of the play Vick had against the Vikings where the two guys run into each other
Only a handful of guys in the NFL have made other pro athletes look like scrubs. Jim Brown, Earl Campbell, Barry Sanders, Bo Jackson and Michael Vick.
Probably forgetting someone
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
Another guy who was/is simply a better athlete than everyone else:
Julius Peppers early on. He was a joy to watch.
iH8dallas - February 17, 2012
Jim Brown is the GOAT of running backs
most never seen him play but he could dominate in today’s NFL
Highspeed30 - February 17, 2012
i disregard Jim Brown because he played in an era when the D line weight 220lbs
He was bigger than nearly everyone on the opposing defense. Not that it is his fault but if he played today he wouldn’t be nearly as dominate. Watch his tape, he just runs over guys. He wouldn’t run over Ngata, Suggs, Suh or any defensive lineman for that matter. Brown was 6’2, 225lbs and ran a 4.5 40. He would be able to play in today’s game but not anywhere near the level that he did.
Jeff Bernard - February 17, 2012
Helluva a tandem the Raiders had
Bo and Marcus
PAinfUL - February 17, 2012
Al lot of talk in Arizona about Peyton Manning.
Possible scenario via commenting at DawgsbyNature.com
http://www.dawgsbynature.com/2012/2/7/2782390/cleveland-browns-free-agency-talk-qbs
• Peyton goes to AZ.
• Kolb heads to Cleveland (I’ve heard some Browns fans being OK with this acquisition).
• Hillis is dropped for pursuit of Richardson.
• WR prospect with their 22nd 1st round pick.
I could see this happening possibly.
Jpage0024 - February 17, 2012
VERY positive article on Russell Wilson
He certainly didn’t look great at the Senior bowl, but his numbers are hard to deny – 33 tds with 4 (FOUR!) ints? Rex did that in 1 game! That kind of dedication to preparation, I would love to have that guy on the Skins. Maybe he isn’t ‘the answer’ but that sounds like a good guy to have at the very least as a backup, if we end up with some other FE QB.
Does anyone else sense history about to repeat itself? We draft Tannehill let’s say 17th (trade back) and draft Wilson with one of our 4th rounders, and much like Ferotte and Shuler, we end up with the lower round guy leading the team for a few years?
timith - February 17, 2012
That's wierd - the link disappeared
http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcsouth/post/_/id/31367/russell-wilson-ready-for-big-combine
timith - February 17, 2012
I love Russell Wilson.
iH8dallas - February 17, 2012
Like, long walks on the beach, candlelit dinners love?
Or man crush ‘favorite player’ love. That article made him sound GREAT.
timith - February 17, 2012
I can't have both?
iH8dallas - February 17, 2012
I'm definitely coming around
I’m going to start dismissing any ‘Skins draft that doesn’t have us getting him in the 4th.
YOU WRONG!
timith - February 17, 2012
You don't draft two QB's in the same draft.
You draft you guy and fill other spots. Maybe you bring in a UDFA, but you don’t draft two guys. Wilson = Brennan = Devlin = not an NFL QB.
Copious 1 - February 17, 2012
Why not?
Panthers did it in 2010.
Packers did it in 2008.
Countless other examples
Parks Smith - February 17, 2012
I think it depends on the value of the picks
I’d agree that you don’t use two high value picks on QB’s in a single draft but I’m not going to complain about a late round project guy in addition to a higher round selection.
SkinsOsTerps - February 17, 2012
Fair exception.
But not a first and then a 4th or 5th.
Copious 1 - February 17, 2012 via Android app
I would have done it to had I drafted Clausen.
Allow my amendment: If a team drafts a QB in the first round.
Copious 1 - February 17, 2012 via Android app
why not when you know you also need a long term backup?
given the ‘quality’ of our current QBs I see no reason not to draft 2 QB this year.
aFan4Life - February 17, 2012
Rex IS a quality backup
Copious 1 - February 17, 2012
Our only QB is Beck, so if Rex is happy to return as a back-up great
but I don’t see us starting the season with Beck as our 2nd QB ever again.
Toosy_13 - February 17, 2012
exactly
People just don’t know it.
aFan4Life - February 17, 2012
Also, the Packers had their Franchise guy already on the roster and not a ton of positional needs.
Copious 1 - February 17, 2012
So wouldn't that be even more reason NOT to do it?
Parks Smith - February 17, 2012
You can gamble when you have the majority of your needs met and take BPA
Regardless of position. Plus…they keep 3 QB’s I believe, so with Favre on his way out…they needed two and if BPA was a QB, then you take them. This is such a nonsensical idea especially for those arguing not to trade picks because we “desperately” need then. So then you burn two on a QB? Rex is not going anywhere in this league to start, so where is he going to run off to in order to back someone else up? Shanahan keeps two QB’s on the roster so with Beck and Rex, one of those guys will be the #2, why draft a guy with a 4th or 5th round pick just to cut him?
Copious 1 - February 17, 2012
I’m a monogamous man
RgIII is my plan
so common shanahan bring him home to me
just pick him, so I can get shitfaced
our franchise is soaked and soiled and proud
in the first round
shanahan picked him!
so I bought everyone a round!
(sorry dkm)
Al_CaPWNED - February 17, 2012
My first Post:
Hey Guys,
I am on the sight quite a bit but never posted before. So here it goes! First the QB situation, I am leaning toward the boring Kyle Orton! It’s hard to be happy about it but RG3 will be too expensive to move up for, Peyton will go somewhere else and I don’t think the Shanahan is buying Flynn so that leaves Orton. Tannehill and Osweiler are options but I don’t think Shanahan will reach for a QB while I do believe other teams will so I say we miss out on both of those guys too. Another QB I hear about is Russell Wilson. I like Wilson but I can’t picture him as a starter in the NFL. Pop Quiz – 21 career starts 31 TD 18 Ints over 4,800 yards and 81.3 rating. Name the player… Seneca Wallace. That’s who I see Wilson becoming. Really solid Backup but no one wants to start him.
So at #6 we have Blackmon, Claiborne or Reiff. I find it hard to believe Claiborne gets past TB. They have one starting CB ready to retire and the other with one foot in the prison door. I like Blackmon, hardworker and even though he doesn’t have top end speed I think he will be a number one WR in the NFL. Reilly Reiff is a beast too! I know that #6 is awful high for a RT but what if he isn’t our RT what if the combination of injuries and failed piss tests moves Trent over to the rightside. He was a reach at #4 a couple of years ago anyway we all know he was.
What do you guys think? Be gentle it’s my first time!
